This is a great soundtrack to an amazing show. Apart from the score...most songs can be found elsewhere. But, if you want to buy the CD you don't have to spend the ridiculous $45.99 Amazon is asking for here in the US. Go to amazon.co.uk (the UK store)and buy it there. It's 11.99 pounds, or $23.38. You might have to wait a few extra days, but I'll take that in order to get half off.

The answer for me was heck yeah but then I am biased because in grew up in the 70s and a huge fan of the series Life on Mars. I rated it 5 stars because there is not one song that I skip when I listen to the cd. I have a few 70 anthology cds but this is by far my favorite. First off, it contains a lot of songs (23?) and although most of them are more obscure then the usual hits of the 70s (there are exceptions like "Rock On" and "Live and Let Die"), each one shines on its own and together they encapture the whole 70s vibe. David Bowie's Life on Mars track can be played over and over again (weeellll maybe that's just me but listen and see if you don't agree). These songs aren't the usual 70s retreads but songs that I remember from my childhood. This cd compilation is a perfect compliment to the series which takes place in 1973 and also highly recommended.

But is this import cd worth the high price tag? Yes, if you experienced the 70s firsthand since this cd has a great collection of rarily heard tunes that really speak of that decade OR you have had the good fortune to run across an episode of Life on Mars on BBC Amercia. No, if you are just looking for a collection of 70s music since each song was picked for an episode specifically and the price is steep for the casual audience.

After enjoying the show i looked forward to the soundtrack.
It is very good and lists all the great tracks that were highlighted during the 2 seasons bar one.
Thought it was going to be a double for some reason but still happy and am enjoying it.
If you love seventies music in all it's variety you will be very happy with this selection.

I absolutely adored this cd. It had plenty of memorable songs from the show that were great for their time and are still great. They fit perfectly in my collection and may have been otherwise forgotten. One of the best things about this show was the music and thankfully they've figured that and put out a cd. Its lovely!

If you missed the series on BBC America enjoy it then buy this soundtrack and relive all the fun and drama

The Life on Mars soundtrack gives a very good snapshot of what music was like during that time. Juxtapose those songs with the particular scenes, well, they become golden. My only complaint is that Cream's version of Crossroads was left off. But, having Atomic Rooster more than makes up for it. If someone wanted to get a decent overview of early 70's FM (US) radio airplay get this CD and the Almost Famous soundtrack CD.

I watched this entire series and decided to buy the soundtrack. What a wonderful buy!

Love the show, the sounds are fun also! Really captured the era of 1973 as the show progressed, used songs of the time to convey the range of emotions the characters were experiencing. Great CD!

Great rock songs from the 70's
Fans of Classic rock will love this soundtrack!
The price is a bit high for a Import (Is it worth it?) Depends on if this is your type of music from the decade of disco
The lil extras from the show isn't much of a selling point
