I am Catholic in my early thirties and before reading this book I did not have a true appreciation for the role that Mary played in the life of Jesus and the early church. Everything about this book just made sense to me. Many times you hear stories of Mary in church that portray her as an average girl that got caught up in an overwhelming experience. This book shows how God prepared Mary to be the Mother of God and the overwhelming humility and love she possessed.

There are few books that I can read over and over but I have read this book many times and will continue to read year after year!

Since the beginning of Christianity, Our Blessed Lord and His Mother have favored a select few people with special revelations containing information on their lives that is not to be found anywhere else. This inspiring work blends all the magnificent visions granted to four of the most privileged souls in the history of the Church. Raphael Brown has compiled an unforgettable masterpiece on the life of Our Lady by combining the writings from Ven. Anne Catherine Emmerich, Ven. Mary of Agreda, St. Bridget of Sweden and St. Elizabeth of Schoenau. The wonderful mental pictures obtained from this enthralling narration will so impress you that they will stay with you the rest of your life. These images can't help but enhance our understanding of the New Testament and our love for Jesus, Mary and Joseph which is why the Church allows and encourages the circulation of these writings. Perhaps just as important as the telling of Mary's life according to these famous mystics is the most valuable explanation included on how the Church deals with the contradictions on historical details that sometimes occur in writings of people who receive private revelations.

This book is very helpful in trying to contemplate the actual earthly journey of the Holy Family. I especially appreciated the Forward discussion of Divine Relevations and Mystics in general. Reading this book , keeping in mind, that mystics interpret their visions and thoughts from their personal perspective , has shown me a beautiful view of Mary , her faithfulness , her suffering , and the virtues she lived. I especially found the prayers she prayed during her preparation as a young girl in the Temple to be very inspiring .

I like to think of Our Lady in precisely that way - when seemingly everything has gone awry and every mortal effort has been made to correct a circumstance or situation, She is there to not only pick up the pieces of my small life but guide me onward to an understanding I would never have thought possible. I cannot remember a book so beautifully organized and concise that conveys the very essence of The Blessed Mother. The four mystics in this book, who had the amazing privilege to learn from Mary's life, the meaning underlying so many mysteries concerning both Her life and passing; as well as Our Lord's life and Crucifixion provides us today with a foundation from which one would be hard-pressed to flee. This is one of the greatest works in Catholic Literature but it is not limited to Catholicism. If one is not fearful of seeking the truth, all paths just may lead to same source...God.

This is so well written and very inspiring. I recommend it for EVERYONE to read and then read again!

This book gives a perspective of the culture into which Mary was conceived, born, lived and died. It certainly expanded my understanding of her and her special relationship with Jesus. The "downside" is the frequent references to absolute rejection of any pleasures of this world and life and the need to undergo unimaginable suffering while living here if one wishes to be seen by God as acceptable-a view apparently shared by the 4 mystics and Mary.

No words can capture the loving and delicate treatment of an introduction to a very personal friend of yours as has been collected in this overwhelmingly sweet 'biography' of the tender Virgin Mary. The understanding of the why, when and how of Mary's life as described in this book leaves you crying out 'I love you, Mary! Please be my friend and help me!' This is by far one of the best religious books I have ever read. The format is very easy to read and understand. The knowledge about the life of our heavenly Mother is amazing! It makes you love her even more when you read about her life and what she went through. The details in the book about Jesus' life are truly outstanding. I would recommend this book to everyone. It will deepen your faith and bring you closer to Mary. I have already given a copy to a ferw people.

It is a must read for all Catholics. It will aid you in meditating on the mysteries of the rosary. I was completely fascinated by the book.

This is one of my favorite books. If you ever had any questions about how Mary responded in all the stages of her life, here is the answer. Every time that I read this book I get more out of it.
