It's been 15 years since the last full-length album from Lisa Lisa, and it was definitely worth the wait. This new album contains a mixture of soul, dance, pop, and latin influence. The album's first single "Que Locura" is an upbeat, predominantly spanish jam, with a hint of Jennifer Lopez and Shakira. There's also a spanish tear-jerker entitled "Retengo Mi Emocion" and an english version of the same song "I Hold It All Inside." A dance tune called "Rock Into Your Soul" comes with an even dancier version at the end of the album. There are plenty of favorites on this album that make it worth the purchase/download. The album "Life 'N Love" definitely showcases Lisa Lisa's versatility and talent, both vocally and musically.

Well worth the wait. LL has matured musically and vocally. Her previous releases have lead to this masterful collection of Latin,funk,rock,dance and Jazz. "Life'n Love" title track is a classic midtempo soul jam with smooth vocals. "Refund" a catchy stand out track with lots of attitude."Booyah" will have you rockin and chanting to it's hypnotic chorus. "Had Enough" and "rock into your soul" both give nods to 80's flare respectively. Lisa didn't forget the sexy tracks "infatuation"and "gonna make you say". To my suprise was the cover of the song "stand". You have never heard LL sing like this, this cd is for the grown and sexy......

I don't usually comment on these, but I am a huge Lisa Lisa fan and a huge music fan. This is a 2 star album with an extra star because I love Lisa Lisa. I'm not sure what the 5 Star reviews were smoking or maybe those reviews are from her Abuelos. These are boring forgettable songs with the exception of "I hold it all inside". Not much of a surprise after a long hiatus, and I hope she gets a chance to make another. Using Teena Marie as an example, her first album after her hiatus was mediocre, but the one after very good. I do call hater on the person who dinged her for bad grammar and poor pronunciation-Hello? Have you been listening to music for the last 50 years? It's not the King's Speech. As far as her lack of singing skills I call shenanigans again. Whatever her singing skills, it was enough to make her one of the biggest 80's Latina pop stars, so a couple million people were okay with it. I am sure there are people who thing Mick Jagger can't sing, but this late in the game, if you bring it up you are just a hater. Hopefully she will get a chance at a second album to redeem this blah rebirth.

The two persons who have reviewed this cd before me must be REAL fans of Lisa Lisa and letting the nostalgia blind their objectiveness. First of all, this girl CAN'T sing, and that is a fact (if here in the final product she's having SEVERAL pitch problems, I can't even begin to imagine how she sounds without the "studio magix"). In the second place, STOP TRYING TO MAKE MONEY OUT OF PRETENDING TO BE A LATIN ACT WHEN YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO SPEAK SPANISH (her pronunciation sounds as fake and overstressed as Christina Aguilera's, and the "latinesque" production is anything but something a REAL latin act would do today...FAKE). And third but not least...we are already ten years into the 21st century!! It wouldn't hurt to bring some originality to the table and stop with the early 90's Tina Marie/Sade rehashes (i.e. the title track: "Life 'N Love" and "Refund")...and that song "Booyah", ARE YOU KIDDING ME? It sounds like a reject from a late 90's Destiny's Child/TLC album! Stay away from this if you like real and authentic r&b.
