Editorial Reviews

Review

[C-Murder's] production crew effectively alters the tone and style of each track. . . . Still, C-Murder's clunky rants are about as subtle as his moniker. . . . -- Entertainment Weekly

Yeah, Master P is tight, Silkk's cool, but C-Murder's "Life or Death" is one of the best CDs I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. It doesn't have the monotonous "Uhhhs!" on every song unlike Master P (no offense P) and every song is unique and special, all the tracks have something you'll remmember, a line that rings through your head all day or a hook you'll never forget. You've got some of the best guest appearences ever by artists like Master P, Silkk the Shocker, Mac, Mystikal, Magic and Soulja Slim. Plus other No Limit Soldiers. Track 2, "A 2nd Chance" Is one of the best rap songs you'll ever hear, and the chorus just stays in your brain for days. This is the best CD from the best label. And if you like it, you'll love his new release, "Bossalinie" (Which I will also review, cause it's off da hook!)

I have to say that for a debut album this is exceptionally good. C-Murder has a lot of artisits on here:Master P, UGK, Silkk, Mystikal, Fiend ,Mac and many more. Make no mistake about it this is C-Murder's show all the way. C sounds like Tupac especially on the title track and track2. Silkk and P have never put out any CD'S as good as this. This album supasses all of his later releases. C-Murder leaves nothing to the imagination. This is the best album to come from the South in 1998. He shows a lot of maturity for a 22 year old(at the time). Listen to some of 2pac's albums before this and you will notice several similarities in delivery.

This is the best cd released in 1998. This album is the chronicle of ANY gangsta rap cd. The album opens with an instrumental intro. Then opens the song "A 2nd Chance" from there the album rides itself! This cd is truly incredible.

The middle Miller brother between Master P and Silk the Shocker. Life Or Death was C-Murder's first solo efford and was filled with that No Limit sound that made the soldiers famous. Out of the 26 titles on here there are only five that features C-Murder by himself. Cee takes a lot of 2pac sayings personally and add them to his arson. Apparently, Pac was a heavy influence in writing this album with the titles "Picture Me", "The TRUest SH..", "Watch Yo Enemies" and the high impact "Riders". "Akickdoe!" features UGK & Master P, where the Texas boys outshined the others, but this song is a life supporter for this cd. Similarities to "Make Say Uhh", "Soldiers" contains the major soildiers of the tank over a slower track with horns. "Cluckers" featuring Fiend is an Ice-T remake that's to slangers and hustlers. No matter, "Where I'm From" could be felt by anyone who love their hood/town/city. A change instead of having snares is the replacement of a gun being cocked on "Duck & Run". Now serving time living out his reputation as C-Murder he shows that to survive in any game its "Survival Of The Fittest". "G's & Mack" get this for your "...Burbans and Lacs..."!
