Best rock album I've heard since "Supergrass",

Anybody that says that Supergrass are too poppy and simple are obviously missing the point. They are the kings of pop, and they know it. There is no other band out there right now that sounds anything like them, and there never has been. The reason Supergrass still haven't broken a market is because the media still can't compare them to someone else, which is how they fit other bands into nicely taylored categories.Their melodies are more complex than they've ever been given credit for. They are beautiful. Their song structuring is second to none. Supergrass are, in short, unquestionably talented and masters at what they do, which is create utterly stunning pop tunes. This album is pure Supergrass through and through. A shiver ran down my spine when I heard the first track, "Za". Supergrass are back, finally! We need Supergrass. Forget The Hives, forget The White Stripes. Do yourself a favor and never listen to anything other than Supergrass ever again. You'll thank me for it. They *are* rock 'n' roll, and "Life On Other Planets" proves it. Supergrass, how I've missed you.

Don't write them off yet, there is still hope,

I got "Life on Other Planets" with a bad taste of "In it for the Money" and "Supergrass" still in my mouth. I was a huge fan of "I Should Coco" and SG's 2nd and 3rd albums left me disappointed with their over-produced-trying-too-hard-to-sound-like-everyone-else sound. LOOP has a great mix of short pop songs with great hooks that remind me of ELO, Pink Floyd and other British pop-punk-glam bands. SG has a great knack for keeping songs short and to the point while also preserving the energy and rawness of a live performance. SG has completely satisfied my "I Should Coco" blues.

Is America finally ready to accept Supergrass?,

I want to start off by saying this album is great...However, all their past albums have been nothing short of brilliant. Has that gotten them success in America? Nope. Will this new album? Maybe. A year ago I wouldve said no to this album too. But at a time when bands like The hives, Travis, the strokes, and white stripes(all of whom i like) are having tons of success over here, why not Supergrass? This album is perhaps thier best yet, which says a lot if you have ever heard In it for the Money...From the catchy piano line in the intro "Za" , all the way to the brilliant closer "Run", Life on other Planets never loses steam. The one complaint is how short it is, but thats Supergrass. Always has been, always will be. Fav songs in order: Grace, Za, Run, Never done nothing like that before, prophet 15, beacon...their all great...Best chances for success in US: grace, never done nothing like that before, and Za...Their intentions with this album was to remind everyone theyre still around and can still rock..well, I'm listening, and heres hoping the rest of the world is..

Once again this is where Supergrass have really done themselves proud and everything on the album shines. The production is great, songwriting everything falls into place. And songs are very catchy. Highlights include: Can't Get Up and One thing that was missing was the Maybe I am just being picky here, but In no way does it compare to

Supergrass is utterly AMAZING. Gaz Coombes is a great singer/songwriter. Danny's drumming and Mick's bass playing is as forceful as always. Robert Coombes' keyboards give this album a more "electronic" feel than "In It For The Money". Even more so than their self titled. I guess it's because he joined the band just in time for their self titled album to be recorded. It's definitely the most fun album they've put out. More people seem to be into them now that this album was released. I used to think I was the only fan here in Suburban America, but they're popping up everywhere! While this album isn't as good as "In it for the Money", it still holds it's ground as a fun album to listen to.

A Planet Worth Visiting,

Young upstart rockers wondering how to incorporate their influences into their own sound could do to have a listen to Supergrass' Life on Other Planets. After two hit-and-miss CD's (I Should Coco, We're In It for the Money), Gaz Coomes and his power trio started to find their power on their eponymous and effervescent third release. With Life on Other Planets, Supergrass channel their glam jones into a solid collection, certainly the best sequenced of their CD's. You'll hear Bowie in here, a bit of Roxy Music, and lots of Marc Bolan. But Supergrass don't traffic in high concepts, the allure of decadence, or opuses to space travel. They have a light talent and a buoyant spirit, which never flags over the course of twelve songs. And when they have something to impart - as all clowns sometimes do - they don't make you suffer for it. Just throw it in during the next rave towards a blissful chorus.

This is one damn good album, Killer hooks bounce thru the speakers, twisted vocals, just a superlative listen. These guys are incapable of making a lousy record. If you're already a fan, you need this bad, if just starting with them, make sure you part with your dockets & get everythign else by the best band from the UK since The Jam. All releases are indispensable.enjoy!

highly enjoyable rock album,

This album is so good it brings me goose bumps. It is just the most enjoyable rock record in such a long time. They bring the same energy, creativity and intelligence that Bowie did on his early albums like Ziggy Stardust and and Hunky Dory. If you are tired of all these rockers coming out with such downer records like radiohead, bowie, and peter gabriel then this is exactly what you need! Every thing that Supergrass has done has been very good to brilliant, they never dissapoint and this is another high mark on their creativity as a band that is carrying along the torch that bands like the Kinks, David Bowie and XTC lit before them...

Another good effort from an underrated band,

I like this CD, and this band, quite a lot. Supergrass is an excellent brit-pop (or power pop) group--in fact, my favorite in that category, which is saying a lot. This one grew on me with repeated listenings. I like it more than I Should Coco and not quite as much as their eponymous release or In It for the Money; anyone who likes any of those 3 should like this as well. To me, this one is similar to the latter 2 in richer production/instrumentation--not as raw as ISC. As always, they are terrific at producing infectious tunes. While their discipline in keeping songs short is admirable, I sometimes wish they'd take a great song further, into (dare I say) 4-minute territory ;) In fact, my only 'complaint' is that I'd like more guitar (or horn . . ) solos fit into these strong pieces, but that's really quibbling. My favorites here: the first 3 songs. (Not one of them even 3 minutes long.) I too sense a Marc Bolan (TRex) influence, particular at moments in the 3rd track. BTW, two lesser-known Supergrass CDs I highly recommend: IIFTM's 9-Track Bonus Disc and Pumpin' On Your Stereo CD-single have some great songs. It's a real testament to this group that they almost 'throw away' such creative stuff.
