5.0 out of 5 stars Justifide-Life Outside to Toybox
I had never heard Justifide till I say them in concert with Skillet and Pillar, and I fell in love with their music! It grabs your attention from the opening note. They have poweful lyrics with a powerful message. Not only was the music phenomonal, but so are they. I got to talk with them, and they are fun lovin cool guys that are totally real. 3.0 out of 5 stars Original, nah. Good listening, yeah.
Lets face it, Justifide is in this place between Creed and POD. They sing hard rock, and find some where to slip in some rhymes. Its not the most original sound you'll hear, no new ground broken, not very innovative or surprising. What makes this worth a listen? They are very talented, write catchy, heavy, melodic songs that are great to kick back too. With lots of groups...

A Must have. They're amazing, they have cool tunes and great lyrics. This is a great cd, if you are looking for a rock album without swear words in it. They're Christian too!!! This is an awesome CD for teens who like to praise God in a more aggressive way. (In A good Aggressive way.)This Cd is worth every penny you've got!!!

I was a skeptic. Yeah, yeah, another Christian group trying to capitalize on the success of P.O.D. (a band I do actually appreciate). But I figured, what the heck, I'll give it a try...So I ordered it through my music club, hoping, oh please oh please, that for once I'd find a group that didn't sound like another set of wannabees. Or a band with a major ax to grind with every authority figure in sight. (Not that a little grinding is bad, but the attitude can only get you so far, right?)

The CD arrived a week ago. I liked the cover art, but the insert photos seemed a little poser-ish, and, as I suspected, these guys had toured with P.O.D. in the past. That could be a good thing. Or a sign of cheap copycats. I stuck the CD in the player and within two songs, I had stopped doing other things and decided to take this music seriously. Reading through the lyrics and checkin' out the musical chops, I was impressed. Yes, it's true, they do have hints of Creed, P.O.D., and even a song that harkens back to classic Pearl Jam sounds, but overall the album refuses to fit into any one of those boxes. Instead, Justifide kicks out of the toybox and decide to be themselves. And the songs have things worth saying...or yelling, as the need may be.

This is one of my favorites now. And I can't get the disc out of my CD player!

So, i decide to go see the Alien Youth tour, just for Skillet. Didn't even stay for skillet or Pillar. Justifide was the first band on stage, and as far as i'm concerned, the only band that was there and i hadn't even heard of them before. I was blown away 15 seconds into the first song, and then afterwards i met the band and they're just the greatest guys. I got the CD, and even though i'm seriously not into christian music, it hasn't left my CD player in the past 5 months or so. The CD is amazing, and their live shows are the best i've ever been to, and i've seen some amazing bands. This CD is definitely a must-have for anyone who likes to rock :)
much love

5.0 out of 5 stars Justifide comes out with an OUTSTANDING Debut album!, May 16, 2001

This review is from: Life Outside the Toybox (Audio CD)
This album has a great amount of your daily dose of Christian rock. In fact, it has all of it. Labelmates with Skillet, All Together Separate, and Satellite Soul, Justfide stands out quite a bit with their hard style of music, unlike any other band on their label. This is a great CD. I encourage you to buy it. The cover art is really cool too.

Christian music always seems to have an answer for whatever's popular out in the mainstream. Whatever the secular side of the house comes up with, a Christian band comes on the scene that rocks harder and sounds better than anything they can put out. New rap-rockers Justifide are a great case in point. These guys just explode on their debut, from the opening scream on through. With a sound that's part Creed, part Korn, part Limp, part Infectious Grooves, and all the way live, they gave me a hardcore ride I won't soon forget. From righteous rapcore grooves to melodious praise to grinding pseudo-power metal, Justifide explore a lot of different territories, and pull them all off splendidly, before riding into the sunset with an ultra-cool reggae jam. They even offer a couple of all-Spanish versions of the songs "Listen" and "Sweet New Found Joy" at the end of the CD. The lead singer growls and wails with the best of them, but also sings from his heart when the tempo slows down. (Sounds like he took singing lessons from POD's Sonny Sandoval!) The hooks, beats, and drums all slammed into me with force and got my head bangin' real good. All in all, this album's a solid winner in the hard music category, and when Justifide's sound matures, it's gonna be something special. Grab hold of this one!

With lots of groups jumping on the "we sound like creed" bandwagon its hard to find groups that don't just SOUND like them, but also write good songs that keep you listening for 12 tracks. The lead singer is great at singing, has a good yell, and breaks it down nicely for the beautiful mellow tracks. The tracks are all pretty different from one another (creed has a prob with having the same sound for all their songs) They aren't the "christian" version of any band. I hate when ppl say things like that. They are just a band that rocks, nothing more, nothing less. If you can pick it up, it'll be worth it. If not you can live with out.

Personally I'd rather live with it. ~=)

Highlight tracks include, Change, 9 out of 10, Still Cries, and Breakaway.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutly Awesome, May 15, 2001

I picked up this CD at one of the prerelease shows and it's been in my CD player ever since then. The lyrics are brilliantly written about issues the younger generation faces in today's world. The song "9 out of 10" talks about overcoming the powers of lust, while "Change" is a cry for reform by teens of society. By far, my favorite song is "Still Cries." It expresses the emotion of a teen left by her boyfriend when she finds out she's pregnant. "Sweet New found Joy" has a whole different feel, a sort of reggae, laid back sound. These guys are going to make it big, and they so deserve it. Not only are they incredible musicians, but they are three of the sweetest guys anyone could ever imagine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Young musicians with great lyrical maturity, January 18, 2002

I am the biggest lyric snob in the world. I love music in general, but if the lyrics don't hold up to the test of poetry to music...well, let's just say the CD won't be in my collection.

Justifide is one of those bands that caught my attention lyrically and musically. I love the hard-hitting lyrics: they tell the truth without preaching to the audience. The music is just as hard-hitting, with the lead singers voice carrying us through the whole album and the music holding its own weight as well.

As a special bonus, the two Spanish tracks at the end flow with the rest of the music, as they are versions of two songs on the album. The lyrics hold up even when translated and are well-put in both languages.

If you decide to buy this CD, you won't be disappointed at all with any of the songs. This is one of the few CD's to listen to straight through, enjoying every single song on the album.
