Quality Music,

Dexter Freebish have finally released their debut album, and it's great. Finally there is good music to listen to! The album never fails to deliver, starting with the latest smash single track, "Leaving Town", all the way to the melancholy end with "Bring Me Water". The entire album is made of well-crafted, well-sung songs that you will be putting on repeat all night long. Before you know it, it will be 3AM and you won't even have your teeth brushed...Anyway, some personal favorites of mine are "Deeper", "Tomorrow", "Falling Down", "My Madonna", and "Higher". All the songs are examples of good pop/rock, and they all contain good hooks. I can only hope that the rest of the world will soon discover Dexter Freebish because they deserve to be around for a long time, and they have the talent to do so. I bought this album on a whim, and I love it. Suck it up and buy it! You won't be dissapointed, I guarentee it.

A fantastic debut,
This review is from: Life of Saturdays (Audio CD)
Dexter Freebish got some heavy airplay here in Charlotte with their song "Leaving Town," and it's not hard to see why. Lead singer Kyle has not only got a fantastic voice with good, solid range, but he and the other guys clearly have a talent for writing interesting, yet very catchy songs. One listen to this CD, and there's no way you'll be able to stop playing it.The music is excellent--no question, but the real achievement here is the songs themselves. "My Madonna" quite possibly sums up the way most women would want their significant other to see them; the song is a real tribute from a man to a woman he's completely taken with. You ladies out there will definitely appreciate the things Kyle sings in this song (I know I do). "Bring Me Water" fits well as a final track--it's very short, almost no accompaniment, and really showcases Kyle's voice. "Falling Down" is a good song with a faster beat than the other tracks, and you will certainly find yourself wondering what the heck a "paisley shade" is (listen to the song). The only song I can't seem to listen to is the one that begins "I just wanna sail the seven seas" -- I don't even recall the title because the opening annoys me so much. Dexter Freebish is a refreshing change from the schmaltz currently playing on the radio, so I highly recommend this CD as a must-have on any road trip. I really hope their next release propels them to even bigger things!

Dexter who?,
By Ryan Holliday (Long Beach, CA United States) - See all my reviews

As soon as Dexter Freebish released their debut album, A Life of Saturdays, the quintuplet had to have known something big was about to happen. Since the release Dexter has quit their day jobs and found themselves on tours with Everlast and SR-71, as well as performances in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Radio Music Awards. The once small secret in Texas has since been exposed to a numerous, nation-wide fan base. The first single, "Leaving Town," which has gained airplay coast to coast, has brought Dexter Freebish into the mainstream. Dexter gained even more attention when "Leaving Town" won the honorable John Lennon Song Writing Award for Best Song of the Year. Smooth melodies fill every track, and after a couple of times listening to a song, you cannot help but sing along. Songs like "Higher" and "Spotlight" expose the true musical talent of the band, with superbly produced blends of guitars, drums, and vocals. However, the song "Higher" best displays the tragic flaw of the album with the elementary and stupid lyrics: "Her thin, white tanktop was almost see through/ I've always been attracted to her butterfly tattoo." Although many people claim to be against pop music (in which Dexter Freebish welcomingly places themselves), the catchy lyrics and lively vocals make A Life of Saturdays nearly irresistible to dislike.

Blowin' Up,
By Teeter "Teeter" (Houston, TX) - See all my reviews

Why aren't these guys blowing up a little more? This is, to me, one of the best albums of my generation. It is, in many ways, equivalent to The Counting Crow's style. The writing is simply brilliant, and the music comes out sounding good enough to be pop, yet rock and artistic enough to please any real music fan. On top of all this they are great live. I saw them on New Year's a couple of years ago. It was outdoors, 35 degrees, and raining. As soon as they came on people went nuts, and much more so than for 3 Doors Down, Eve 6, or lesser-known Nickelback (the other bands there). Truly a generational feeling and style. Buy this album and help support true music.

You need to get to know Dexter Freebish,
This review is from: Life of Saturdays (Audio CD)
When I first heard the name Dexter Freebish, the radio was playing their new single, Leaving Town. If you listen to any basic alternative/rock station you have probably heard it as well. For the few times I listen to the radio I always turned it up on my car stereo. So I must say this was an impulse buy. I saw it, consider it, and bought it without hearing any other tracks. Well, the best of the CD was yet to come. I thought Leaving Town was pretty catchy but not enough to carry the band. Now this is one of the very few cds in my car that I can play all the way through. I must say that list is quite short. Now these tracks do not vary in tempo a lot, but the overall sound of this cd is great. The more you listen to this cd, the more you will beging to realize how fresh, energetic, and youthful this band's sound is. So obvious every cd has a standout track that are considered the highlight. I have several. Spotlight, Wonderland, and Falling Down. I am hoping I will be able to get to catch them in concert next time they are in town. I can't judge for you, just recommend. That's the beauty of .mp3s. Go grab it off the net, and if you like what you hear, get the cd. It will be an excellent addition to your music collection. I have found few cds with this upbeat sound. Their music is good, quite good.

It is not often that I can find a CD that I can listen to the entire CD, WITHOUT skipping over a single track! It is just that great. Not since Fastballs "All The Pain Money Can Buy" have I been so in love with a CD. These guys are gonna make it big, and they deserve it- No contrived crapola on this one- True talent, plain and simple. BUY IT!

Wassup party people. I got Dexter Freebish's new album on the first day because I absolutely loved the first hit single "Leaving Town" What a fab tune. I couldn't wait to hear the rest of the album, as I hope it would carry on the fine tradition of great Pop?Rock bands like Vertical Horizon, Nine Days, and SF's own Stroke 9(U must own this record) Upon my first listen though, I must admit that I was a bit dissappointed with the album. Nothing seemed to stand out like that sterling first song. But I persisted, and gave it a few more tries, and actually discovered that this ablum actually had some gems in it. I just had to dig for them. Tunes like "Higher", "Deeper" and "Wonderland" are actually great tunes that I believe are best to be heard while pushing 80 down the highway. "What Do You See?" reminds me of early Oasis(de good stuff) and "Bring Me Water" is a melancholy yet beautiful way to end the album. In the end, Dex Free doesn't break any new ground, but they have produced a god first album which deserves to be heard. Maestro out

The best album I've heard in a long time!,

WOW! That sums up this disc. I heard Dexter Freebish for the first time when a friend of mine forced her headphones on my ears and told me I had to listen to this band. I listened to "Leavin' Town" and I knew right away that these guys were good. She let me borrow her CD three months ago, and I haven't given it back since. Every song on this disc is great (although the last one is somewhat slow). I can't really pick a favorite, but I would say that "Leavin' Town" and "Wonderland" truely show both the instrumental and singing talent of Dexter Freebish. Like I said, every song on this album is great, and anyone who wants to get their money's worth out of a CD should buy this. I cannot wait until DF comes out with their next album, because I will definitely be buying it!

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Life of Saturdays (Audio CD)
I bought the Dexter Freebish CD about a year ago after hearing "Leavin' Town" on the radio, I loved that song so much. The first time I slipped this CD into my CD player, it didn't come out for almost a month and Dexter Freebish is still my favorite band! I was suprised to find that while Leavin Town is still a great song, the others on this CD are even better. "Wonderland" is amazing both lyrically and musically, and "Deeper" and "Life of Saturdays" provide a fresh look at just plain ROCK. I would recommend this CD to just about any one. Dexter Freebish is a unique group whose songs are not quite like any others.

After hearing "Leaving Town" on the radio last September, I took a chance and bought the whole album. Boy, am I glad I did! There's not a single track on the entire CD that I don't like. Here we are again approaching almost a year since I bought that album, and I still listen to it all of the time. "Leaving Town" is destined to be a classic, and several of the other tracks definitly have the potential. There is something for everybody on this CD. Those who aren't really into the rock/alternative scene will love "My Madonna" because it has a pop feel to it even though it is still rock music. Those who like moving ballads will love "Tomorrow" (my personal favorite), and those who love to rock will like "What Do You See", "Life of Saturdays", and of course, "Leaving Town". There's much more than just those tracks that I mentioned. This band has a very clean sound with some cool guitar rifts and Kyle, the lead singer, has an awesome voice! Definitly 5 stars. If you haven't bought it, you're missing out big time.
