Editorial Reviews

Review

'Written by one of the most respected biblical teachers of the last century, this book gives pastors great overviews of 63 biblical characters -- from the most prominent to minor ones. For each character, Wiersbe isolates one key sentence that defines the person and centers his exposition on the characters around it. It'll be a nice resource to look at whenever you study or preach about particular people from the Bible.' (Rick Warren's Ministry Toolbox)

Our church has been working through some of the "sentences" in our small group classes and it has been a favourable study that has been well received by their comments. Our lesson plans are also enhanced by video exerpts (put together by others)that compliment the topic of the "sentence" to help the learners get a grasp and retain the intention of the plan. I believe the books are inexpensive enough to purchase a book for each person or for the church to provide as a resource. No sermons to download, no websites to visit during the week like some resources I have sampled. This way the learner is not burdened or distracted from the intent of the author whom I belive has done an excellent job of conveying the "life sentences" of the characters.

This is a different way to look at Biblical characters. It summs up the charater's life in a sentence. That sentence is from the Bible. In the back there is a reading chart for nine weeks of reading through that book.

Therefore it a great tool for the overview of the Bible.
