Poor quality, I returned it.,

Extremely poor quality. You can do much better for less money.
TWO LONG SPRINGS are drilled into the upper part of the skull -- not at all like the picture where the springs are tucked away. Don't waste your time like I did. Edit: they lowered the price more than 25% after I bought it (or this review). Hmmmmmmm.

At under $20.00, this is a good buy. THe lower jaw is attached securely with 2 wire springs that allow for jaw movement. You can manipulate the jaw so that it does not match up as easily as you can place the jaw correctly. I mention this only because I don't know that the springs would hold up being passed around a classroom time and again. The material is a plastic compound that feels durable and light weight but not overly thin. This skull is for my daughter to use as a model for art so perfection is not an issue. Consider this evaluation in that light.

Good value at the expense of quality...,

My wife was looking for a prop skull to use while acting out Shakespeare with her high-schoolers. She also didn't want to shell out a ton of cash. This skull was within her price range and will serve its purpose, but as outlined in other reviews it is poorly constructed. The jaw seems to be deformed, so it doesn't fit in the niche where it is supposed to. In two or three places, the exterior paint has cracked, exposing the dense styrofoam base beneath. For a cheap-o value prop skull, it will serve its purpose. Those looking for something that is high-quality and anatomically correct, look elsewhere.

It's very sturdy but is missing a lot of small details. It's cast, so, for instance, the teeth are not separated. As another reviewer noted, the teeth are particularly bad. For the price it's acceptable. I bought it to draw. A medical student would probably want something a lot more detailed. I used polymer clay to make the teeth more toothy.
I just looked at the picture. That's not the same skull at all. So that's not good.

I ordered this skull shortly after I ordered the "Budget Skull" also listed on amazon.com for about a dollar or two more. The budget skull I ordered has a removable skull cap, and 3 removable teeth, it's also a lot sturdier than this one and has a better feel and finish to it. This skull looks and feels cheap... and I suppose at roughly 25 bucks, it is. Still, considering that the alternative is only about a dollar more and way better, I cannot recommend this skull.
First thing I noticed was how lightweight this skull felt compared to the other one. Secondly, I noticed a rattling sound. This skull is cast with the cranium sealed, so the bits of plastic shavings or whatever it is inside rattling around the brain case are just going to stay there. This is because the interior of the orbits are filled in, probably to make the casting easier, but the result is that it ends up lacking details. The optic canal is filled in, as is the interior orbital fissure. The nasal passage is also filled in, though you can still see the septum and the inferior nasal concha. If you flip the skull upside down to rest on its vertex, you'll see that the foramen magnum is filled in, as is the foramen ovale. Casting marks are very apparent and much of the detail that my other skull has is not present on this one. The finish on this skull looks like it was done with a ratttle can of gray-white matte enamel. Feels cheap, looks cheap, and helps to obscure the details that are already kind of lacking on this skull. Also, there's a lot of flex in the mandible especially at the mandibular condyle, so it seems like the jaw doesn't fit quite right in its place. Because of this, I'm not able to determine whether or not this skull is supposed to have the slight underbite that it exhibits. For a difference of around one dollar, go with the "budget skull" with the removable skull cap, articulated mandible, and 3 removable teeth. It may have a cheap sounding name, but is a better option

I wanted a realistic skull without breaking the bank. For the price this works. It was a second. The teeth aren't that great looking and the jaw was a bit warped so it didn't fit right. A few minutes with an exacto knife and a heat gun and you'd never know. Granted it isn't nearly as good as the ones in the anatomy department back in my college days but most everything you need to make the first impression is there. Its especially great because it is just two pieces and the top doesn't come off like an anatomy lesson skull. Really good for getting some laughs.

This product looks just like the picture and arrived fast. I used for theater, and with some paint and distressing it looked authentic enough without the loose jaw. Its small, like a petite female or older child's head. It doesn't have the cut off top part like many other plastic skull replicas. The eye sockets are closed, not open like real sockets are, just so you know that. The plastic seems strong and solid. I'm happy with my purchase..

They sent a defective one and said they would replace at no charge. Thouch skeptical, it arrived a few days latter, as promised, at no extra charge, plus I got to keep the defective one too. All good, almost. That all being said, it wasnt exactly like the one in the photo, as the definition of teeth was not the same. I guess you get what you pay for. Next time will will spend the extra money to get a better quality skull. They were only third person handlers and would have preferred to go directly to the original company from the get=go.

The skull showed up in one piece--no defects or damage--which is good. The quality of the material it's made out of is solid and feels sturdy and built to last. The jaw is mounted with two small screws (which are located in the temple region) and two springs. You should be able to easily remove the springs if you need to which is nice. I use the skull for a reference when I'm drawing tattoos just to make sure my perspective is right and everything is proportional. As far as it being "life size" well maybe for a small female or a very small male, but really it's unimportant and more convenient for it to be a little on the small side...Overall it's just what I would've expected for $20.
