5.0 out of 5 stars 4 Hero's varied Musical influences compelled onto Cd...., March 22, 2004
This review is from: Life: Styles (Audio CD)
Primarily known for their `intelligent' take on Drum'N'Bass/Breakbeat....4-Hero have been asked to collate some of their musical influences & Inspirations. Rather surprisingly it eschews dance/breakbeat music & focuses on the Jazzier side of things. Moving smoothly via Funk ("Sly and the family Stone"), through to Hard bop, Fusion Jazz ("Horace Silver, Herbie Hancock, Ramsey Lewis"), and stopping off via smouldering ("Debbie Taylor, Nancy Wilson, Syreeta Wright")...there's nothing here for those expecting a continuation of 4-Hero's lively breakbeat albums. But there is something more important, in that there are some real nuggets of lost Soul & Jazz here, that will delight those knowing what to expect here.....and the mixing is unobtrusive & intelligently handled. But it should be carefully noted, that this is not a traditional 4 Hero album, and merely compiles a (admittedly stunning) collection of rare/obscure tracks that have influenced the band (if you listen carefully, you listen you can hear how some of these songs went on to influence their intelligent Drum n Bass/Breakbeat sound). And if you're prepared to hunt around for a copy there's a limited 2-Cd version, this makes for an album that's a very worthy purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Life: Styles 4 Hero Review, December 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Life: Styles 4 Hero (Audio CD)
The music starts off slow and the heat gets turned up at the start of track 3 when the music and vocals mesmerize the listener.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST EVER, June 30, 2007
This review is from: Life: Styles 4 Hero (Audio CD)
4 Hero are so cool, these are guys I need to meet cuz their musical selection is unreal. they understand the 70s had the heaviest music and they went and dug up a bunch of records that would cost a fortune if you were to try to buy them individually. this is the highest quality funk. and they end it with les fleurs! the heaviest tune ever. 4 hero-you rock.

5.0 out of 5 stars great concept, March 31, 2004
This review is from: Life: Styles 4 Hero (Audio CD)
in the last production creating patterns show a excellent use of jazz samples and electric mixes, the mix is different to all concept of electronic music, featuring with names like jill scott, ursula rucker, terry callier, patricia marxx and more.

I guess this ep show the new concept of these music and will give a joy time, to music lovers.
