I am a big fan of Paramahansa Yogananda's books (Autobiography of a Yogi, etc.), and like those books, this six volume set gives wonderful spiritual information that, in this case, is somewhat esoteric but is deep and generous. I think it would be a part of anyone's serious non-religion bound spiritual education. The Masters of the Far East speak about true 'religion,' and it is the type of information, in my opinion, that carries a vibrational message as powerful as its content itself.

I read these books over 40 years ago. I was very young and in a lot of turmoil. After reading these books, I carried what I read with me through all the hell I was living through, and a "breakthrough" would occasionally happen. I am now an old woman (67 years old), and ready to read them again, from an entirely different perspective. I have been "wrestling" with the messages of these volumes, but coming to understand the teachings more and more. The subject is so much greater than I could comprehend at the time, and is still so magnificent that I struggle to fully understand the message.

Though the Masters are not Christian, they possess a thourough understanding of the metaphysics of Christianity--reminds me of Paramahansa Yogananda's teachings at times. This is no surprise though. Most Eastern spiritual teachers understand Jesus' message much better than us Westerners. A short, but wonderful read.

Yes. If you are a seeker you want this book; you will want the entire 6 volume set! Book one sets the stage and begins to wear down the "normal" beliefs that make it impossible to progress spiritually. Book came in on time and very well packaged. Was in top shape for used book--per seller description. Glad to be able to puchcase single book from set of 6--'loaned' #1 out and never got it back. Thanks.

This book has been shown to be fiction, the author made it up. At the time he claims these events took place and he claims to be 40-something years old at that time witnessing all these miraculous events with a team of scientists on this trip to the Himalayas, it is actually documented that he was a twenty-something working on mining jobs in the USA and Canada at that time. He lied about his date of birth (moving it 20 years earlier), his place of birth (US, not England), his name, and where he was at the time these supposed events took place (he was not really anywhere near the Himalayas, he was working at jobs in US & Canada at that time, that is documented). Just do a basic internet search on the authors pseudonym to find these documented facts. Sales of this book was his main source of income for the latter part of his life, when a lot of people were taken in by the story. There are lots of amazing events in this 5-volume book but not enough detail about the location to determine exactly where it took place, unlike the usual meticulousness with which scientists usually take notes, and none of the other fictional scientists on the team have ever come forward in real life to say they actually exist and were there too. IT DOES A GRAVE DISSERVICE AND BAD KARMA TO PERPETRATE A DECEPTION LIKE THIS BOOK AND PASS IT OFF AS A REAL EVENT, SINCE IT MAKES PEOPLE CONCLUDE THAT OTHER EVENTS MAY ALSO BE FICTIONAL, OTHER EVENTS THAT MIGHT ACTUALLY BE TRUE.

This is the great spiritual text. I was deeply moved with the whole series. The spiritual journey is very inspirational. I need to prove or disprove this fantastic text. Is this the writings of a drug influenced group? Or is it the most moving, inspirational record of an intensely moving, spiritual journey? The conclusion seems to be with the number of the group that stay with The Masters. A truly moving experience.

After reading and embracing Life and Teachings of the Masters of the Far East I started recognizing that there is in fact an unseen/invisible world and we do create our own reality thru our thoughts and spoken words. I feel that what Baird T. Spalding discovered by living and traveling during those years has been of great value to human beings. It is my intention to embody what is taught here. I now see that we are on the verge of the greatest Social, Economic, Political and Spiritual change that was spoken of. On the horizon of a GREATER more abundant life from within.
