Living in Hawaii, I am fortunate to hear lots of terrific Hawaiian music of all genres. Life in These Islands is my absolute favorite new recording! Perfectly titled, this CD captures daily living in paradise -- from activities with our ohana, to visualizing crashing surf, rustling palm trees and gorgeous hula -- you will feel you are really here. Jack Johnson is a guest performer - just adding to the delights of this beautiful work. You won't be disappointed.

If I had to pick just one CD that brings me back to my days living in and enjoying the Hawaiian Islands, this would be it. The amazing talent of Kaukahi's virtuoso musicians, especially the voice of Kawika which embodies the pulse of the islands themselves, easily transports me back to the emotion, warmth, and pace of island life.

I highly recommend buying this CD!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I heard Kaukahi in person when my wife and I were in Honolulu in April, 2010. The disc, which we got from the group, captures their sound impeccably - mellow, lush harmonies and great (sometimes intricate) guitar work, a mix of traditional Hawaiian and contemporary songs, all acoustic. While driving around Oahu and Maui for 10 days it served as the perfect soundtrack to our vacation. Back home in greater Boston, the CD transports us to the islands immediately. Favorite tracks: title track, "Life in These Islands", "There is a Way." Guest appearance: by their buddy Jack Johnson. Interesting connection: one of the four players is a nephew of the late great Izzy - you can hear it in his voice. In summary, this CD is a must-have for those who have been to the islands, live there, or have ever thought of going. Be sure to check out the song samples. Mahalo and aloha!

When I was on a recent trip to Maui, a friend of mine who lives there , was raving about this album. She gave it to me to listen to during my stay. I must have listened to it at least 10 times. I've been shopping around for a good Hawaiian album and this is it. You won't be disappointed in having this in your album collection.

This is a top quality band from Hawaii writing much of their own great material. Having said this, their sound is unmistakeably influenced by the harmonies and guitar work of Cazimero Brothers, Iz's vocals and ballad phrasing, and Makaha Sons of Hawaii. Season this fantastic formula with cameos by the popular Jack Johnson and the uniquely talented Amy Hanaiali'i Gilliom and you have one heavy-hitting not-to-be-missed CD.

Absolutely amazing! Captures the feeling and the soul of Hawaii in a unique compilation of songs. Simple music. Not overly produced. But very strong and emotive. A must own!

I bought this for my husband and he plays it constantly! The tunes are easy to love and will put a smile on your face. We love Hawaiian music, and this album is one of the best.
