Roca-Life,

Jay Z's new album has already been released like two weeks ago here in Europe and I bought it without even listening to it. When I first put it in my stereo I thought that it was horrible, but after all I was totally wrong. The songs get better the more you listen to them and after a while you just can't stop to sing along and bump your head to this cd. I think Jay Z did a good job on this one (as on all of his Cd's) and especially "Big Pimpin" and "Come and Get Me" are really cool songs. Once again Jay Z is reloaded.

Jay Z comes through,

There was a lot of hype surrounding the release of the Jay-hovah's new album, and rightfully so considering that he is one of the greatest lyricists out there. His album does not disappoint. It is very much like his other albums where the beats and background music are at times awful, but Jay-Z lyrics and style come through and make the song. At times one gets the impression that Jay-Z could rap without a beat and the song would still make you bob your head. Jay-Z is that good. Another great thing about the album is the lack of silly and useless interludes that break up the flow of the music (ala Puff Daddy, Dr. Dre, or almost anyone else). It was refreshing to have a continuous flow of 15 or so songs (plus "hidden" bonus tracks) without comedic interruption. The Jay-hovah is all business. One criticism I have of the album is the lack of faster paced songs that would facilitate dancing or fast driving. While Jay-Z's rap might increase in speed, the beat stays the same. Overall, the album eclipses any of the other hip-hop albums that have been released this year despite the forgettable beats.

Volume III is Number 1.......,

What can you say about the Unoffical king of New York...except he is HOT! I anxiously awaited his latest release and it did not disappoint. "So Ghetto", is perhaps the best Jay-Z song I've heard. The beat keeps you going and his lyrics surpass anyone in the rapp game right now. Jay doesn't overload you with voilence, obscenities, or the hard-core style. His third album brings intricant lyrics and in-depth looks into the "life and times" of the hip-hop society. Like he says in "Dope Man", he is trying to be the ghetto spokesman and he is doing a great time. His album does lack in dance beats, but if your a true fan of hip-hop and lyricists you'll be sure to enjoy Volume III.

Jigga fails this time,
By Matt (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Volume 3: The Life & Times of S Carter (Audio CD)
First off, I loved Vol.2 and Vol.1, but man this album is a DISGRACE to the rap game. The main reason why I don't like this album, is the fact that Jay-Z raps about money, diamonds, rings, cars, hoez, and just nonsense in Vol.3. Almost everysong has no meaning...its just "Jigga this" and "Jigga that." WHAT KIND OF TALENT IS THAT? I like Jay-Z but this album is a poor effort with weak beats and not many good tracks.

Jay is just like nas,
By "illmat" (Chica-on tha-go) - See all my reviews

When I say Jay-z is just like Nas. I mean that as in. They both have'nt been able to live up to there first joints. "Reasonable Doubt" is a definite classic, we all know that, but now it's like Jigga is only rapping to please tha radio stations. This new album strated off like it was gonna be hot [tha first three songs]. Then it was tha new Jay all over again, and closing. Tha new "Jigga Fans" should love this album, but if you're like me just keep "Reasonable Doubt" in ya headphones cause aint nothing changed.

Excellant album, one of my favourites at the moment. If you don't like "Do it again" there has to be something wrong with you.I don't thing there isn't a song on the album that isn't good. Jay-z keep up the good work. Can't wait for Vol.4!

Oh man is this CD horrible. I read all of these good reviews on this website but I have no clue how people can think this album is "Hot" or a "Classic." I love rap and listen to almost everyone but I have to admit i wasted my money. This album has weak beats, and horrible lyrics. Jay-z sounds like he's just mumbling. Go buy DMX or Tupac

I am not that big of a rap fan but I decided to listen to one of my friends Cd of Jay Z.I would have to say that this man is one of the best rappers out there not only was his voice clear but the lyrics were very intelligent I also enjoyed the clever sample on the track Anything, although I dont quite remember where it was from
