4.0 out of 5 stars Waiting in the wings, January 3, 2007
Edward the VII spent the longest time (to date) waiting to be King. His mother, Victoria, was a Queen who refused to initiate her oldest son & heir in the duties of the monarchy. Her devotion to his father's memory knew no bounds & she certainly didn't want to see anyone else sitting in what she considered "Alberts place". After Alberts death she virtually went into seclusion for 30 years. Leaving the English Empire without visable leadership. Bertie (Edward VII) did all that he could to provide that visibility given the restraints of his Mother. Enjoyable look at the pecularities of the monarchy.
