Biography

It can be said some bands truly embody a certain spirit or emotion. Without a doubt, Massachusetts’ long running juggernauts, THE ACACIA STRAIN, truly embody anger. And that shows more than ever on their new full length, “Wormwood.” The band’s actual sound and vibe are more ferocious than ever on this, their fourth full length for Prosthetic Records, their fifth effort, overall.
Even the successes… Read more in Amazon's The Acacia Strain Store

Editorial Reviews

Technical heaviness from the Northeast that's heavily influenced by Coalesce, Dillinger Escape Plan, and Meshuggah. Strained low end growls and utterly massive repetition with all of the grooves going on, before busting out into parts that are much faster, chaotic, and metallic. Plus there are some pretty killer breakdowns on here as well. Produced by Adam from Killswitch Engage. First cd by the band that went on to bring you 3750 and The Dead Walk. 10 Tracks of HEAVY!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brutal debut, July 19, 2008

This review is from: And Life Is Very Long (Audio CD)
I recommend this album to any death metal deathcore fan it's pretty brutal.I hate bands like this who sound great but dress like morons and wear stupid gangster hats but get it for the music.Unlike the newer albums this one has more brutal screams, same sounds only faster and heavier i kinda like this one more than the dead walk(probably?)only cause it's just really brutal and the growls have more screaming into them which makes it more BRUTAL and loud and makes it sound a bit different than today.PURE BRUTALITY!I SUGGEST YOU GET THIS THEY LOOK MORE METAL IN THIS ONE INSTEAD OF POSERS THINKING THEY ARE METAL BUT ARE INTO GARBAGE MUSIC!

3.0 out of 5 stars I dunno... not so excited, August 8, 2008
Holy crap, The Dead Walk. wow... This album... just sounds like so many other bands out there. The Acacia Strain has always been the heaviest hardcore metal I have ever heard. Yeah, this album IS hella brutal. But I don't feel this album matches up to the last two. Especially with the vocals being mid-high, verses the low/high mixed much of the time, and the rest of the time vox are mid-low toned. It's just plain heavier in the other albums. I certainly would love to tear up the floor at a show to any of the music on this album. But I feel the off-beat/short-scaled measures in The Dead Walk brought so much surprise and thrill. This is a good album, but not as heavy. It's hella brutal. Truly. Worth the buy, but... I feel like they downgraded. It doesn't make me less a fan... just disappointed I don't feel the intensity with this album as the others. This IS just my opinion. Please consider your own thoughts as well as other hardcore metal fans out there. Thanks.
