Excellent Overview of the Life of Mozart,

"Life & Works" is an excellent telling of the life of Mozart that primarily uses his letters, the letters of his family and friends, and his excerpts of his music. It is a rich combination that avoids many of the cliches of other biographical pieces (such as not ending with the Requiem)and gives a freshness and vibrancy to his life. The narrator was charming and quite entertaining. I thoroughly enjoyed "Life & Works" and recommend it to Mozart lovers and those new to his work!

I love this whole series that we first heard broadcast on XM Pops classics channel on Sunday mornings. I've bought most of them now. There is a LOT of music on them with a compelling narrative by a good voice and great musicology. Super way to learn about all classics.

This CD set makes a long road trip seem much shorter. Not only is the music superbly recorded, the narrative is captivating. It gives a thorough background to an often misunderstood genius. "Amadeus" is a great movie, but it doesn't come close to the truth. This CD does.
