4.0 out of 5 stars Over-processed and formulaic never sounded so good
Kelly Clarkson is back in her photoshopped form with the Dr. Luke/Max Martin instant hit "My Life Would Suck Without You." Although she has temporarily left her `December' style behind, Clarkson still knows exactly how to make a pop gem.

2.0 out of 5 stars The original Idol's Life Sucks Away
While a few weeks ago American Idol has returned to the airwaves. It doesn't come as a surprise that the first Idol winner Kelly Clarkson is also trying to reshape herself all over again too. After the badly and lackluster appeal of Never Aagin and her overall 2006 album My December, she really tried to show that she could be a singer again. But, with the appeal weighing...

4.0 out of 5 stars Over-processed and formulaic never sounded so good, January 19, 2009
This review is from: My Life Would Suck Without You (MP3 Download)
Kelly Clarkson is back in her photoshopped form with the Dr. Luke/Max Martin instant hit "My Life Would Suck Without You." Although she has temporarily left her `December' style behind, Clarkson still knows exactly how to make a pop gem.

"Suck" does not present listeners with anything truly groundbreaking, lyrically ("either way I found out / I'm nothing without you") or musically, but it does feature Clarkson's signature toned vocals. Her vocals, though dressed up thanks to autotuning, blend well with the techno-rock composition of the song. The "Since U Been Gone"-like opening guitar chord and the "So What"-like chorus call originality into question but the catchiness of "Suck" cancels out those claims.

Where Clarkson really makes "Suck" her own is in the final chorus when she hits a few astronomically high notes. This is the artist that fans know and love and her return to the music scene after a few rough years is just what radio needed.

Kelly Clarkson may be traveling the commercially-friendly route right now, especially with the techno thing in style, but her spunk, tenacity and unparalleled vocals set her leaps and bounds ahead of the Katy Perrys and the Lady Gagas of the world. She will always be a role model for artists, and "My Life Would Suck Without You" is something special for that reason.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Single Doesn't Suck, it Rocks!, January 14, 2009
This review is from: My Life Would Suck Without You (MP3 Download)
I am one of the fans who loved Kelly's "My December," album. The songs were thoughtful and well written. It just didn't get the promotion it deserved. But now I am proud to say that Kelly's new song has been on continous rotation on my iPod. If "My December," gave us a darker Kelly, "All I Ever Wanted," gives us a new and improved Kelly. Here she does what she knows best: rocking out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pop Tart, February 1, 2009

"My Life Would Suck Without You" is a catchy tune from American Idol diva Kelly Clarkson. Eschewing the more somber songs of "My December" (still a good album),Clarkson returns to pop diva mode. It's deliriously fun dance pop. Like the lollipop,it's candy, meant to be enjoyed in the fleeting moment. It might not catapult Kelly into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but it's got a joyous beat.

4.0 out of 5 stars This song is amazing, but don't call it a "comeback"- she never left!, February 6, 2009
This review is from: My Life Would Suck Without You (MP3 Download)
After the commercial downfall of her last album "My December"(which, in my opinion, was the best of her three), Kelly returns to the scene after a short absense from the music scene.
With the new hot single "My Life Would Suck Without You", Kelly plays it safe by edging away from the darker tones of "My December" and into a more modern-craze, Katy Perry-style tounge-in-cheek song about how she just can't give up this guy that she thinks her life would suck without. Although some fans will be slightly dissapointed that Kelly didn't once again try to do something out-of-the-norm like her last album, they won't be completely let down because "My Life Would Suck Without You" is an overall great song that you'll want to listen to over and over again. After the flopping of some of her previous singles like "Don't Waste Your Time", "Sober" and "Never Again", MLWSWY is almost guarenteed to be a hit and get Kelly back where she belongs and will be extremely successful as a growing artist.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Formula That Works - Good Work Kelly!, January 29, 2009
This review is from: My Life Would Suck Without You (MP3 Download)
Not a whole lot new here - BUT that is perfectly okay since this is clearly a return to form for Kelly. "My December" was so difficult to listen to not only because of its musical shortcomings but the understanding that someone whom I really appreciate had to have suffered greatly during its conception.

Not so with "My Life". Kelly clearly is back and she's in love! And I think it is great!!! While it is true that true artistry deals occasionally with the brutally cold realities of life, there are not many like Shawn Colvin or Patty Loveless who are gifted with the ability to artfully convert tears into songs that people can lovingly appreciate.

Kelly may get there someday as a composer/writer but her forte for now is that strong and beautiful voice that I never get tired of listening to.

The title purposefully has a hard edge to it to set it apart from vanilla techno rock that has long been over-done. The intro and main hook bears much similarity to "Since U Been Gone" which, until now has been her runaway biggest hit. "My Life" will certainly exceed that.

The background flourish at the end hitting that fourth octave is a brilliant finish. Unlike Mariah Carey, Kelly hits it without effort. If the rest of her new album is crafted this well, it will be a joy to listen to this gal as it always has been.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Song For People Who Know Me, January 24, 2009
This review is from: My Life Would Suck Without You (MP3 Download)
After her successful sophomore album, and mediocre 3rd effort, Kelly Clarkson looks to be back on top, and she's apparently going the ever popular route, and sure to be top genre of 2009, Dance-pop. Instead of the negativity found in most of her previous songs, "My Life Would Suck Without You" is about how great her guy is. It's certainly danceable, and it's certainly hit-bound. I'd say this song cements her status as a "Pop Queen."

5.0 out of 5 stars A surefire hit!, January 22, 2009

Kelly Clarkson's first single from her forthcoming fourth CD is called "My Life Would S*** without You." The song is a tremendous return of form for Kelly, whose last CD didn't perform as well as expected. She reunites here with the songwriters of "Since U Been Gone" - Max Martin and Dr. Luke along with Claude Kelly who wrote Britney's recent hit, "Circus." The song will inevitably be compared to "Since U Been Gone," which isn't a bad thing. Lyrically, the songs are polar opposites; however, both are great pop-rock songs while also being surprisingly danceable. The catchy chorus sounds great blasting from a car stereo, and Kelly's voice sounds powerful and rich here. It's probably her best work since the "Breakaway" CD. The single has already raced to #1 in sales on iTunes - she's got a hit on her hands!

5.0 out of 5 stars powerful with a great chorus!!, March 17, 2009
This review is from: My Life Would Suck Without You (MP3 Download)
This is a really catchy song with a big and powerful chorus. If you like other Kelly Clarkson songs like "Since U Been Gone" you will like this one. It is similar, but different. :)

Looking forward to hearing the rest of this album!

My life would suck without you is an awesome, totally addictive pop song. Personally, i really liked My December and this song, I think, could fit on that album but thats neither hear nor there. MLWSWY is out not and has put Kelly back on top right where she deserves to be. Cant wait for the album.
