I'm really loving this newest album. Bryce has really outdone himself this time. It's his best since Hello Good Friend. Must buy.

Do yourself a favour and buy this CD, you will not regret it. Each song has a way that speaks to your heart, and each song is beautifully put together. Not only does the CD sound great, but it looks great as well, the artwork on the inside is very creative

I found out who The Rocket Summer is by listening to Last.FM and hearing "Skies So Blue", which I liked. I tried listening to other albums by TRS and nothing grabbed me. I don't like skipping songs through albums, so I assumed this guy's music was "meh". Anyway; Rdio recommended this album to me for some reason or another, and I gave it a try and was immediately drawn in. The instrumentation is a little ambient, not like all krautrock or new age or anything, but kinda moody like, and it's increasingly obvious through the lyrics this guy's singing from a modern day Christian perspective. He laments on how couples these days don't have what it takes to stay together anymore on "Old Love", and how it's not always easy being righteous in "Soldier" and "Circa '46" (which is where the title of the album comes from). It's a rather bittersweet CD, much like I am as a person at this point in my life, maybe things'll change, although depression runs deep in my family, so I don't know...but if you're not adverse to God and you're life isn't or doesn't seem to you like peaches and roses, you might try this. I discovered this guy/band on Last.FM while on an emo/poppunk binge, so if you hate "whiny teenager music", this probably isn't for you either...

I picked this album up on release date in high anticipation for it. After a quick listen, I will admit, I was a little disappointed. This is because I did not feel the songs were not as catch is some of the older stuff. But like any good music, it grew on me, and I can happily say that this CD will probably be in my cd player for many months. It is definitely more piano driven than your typical music, and overall is very appealing. Some notable songs are "Run and Don't Stop", "Revival", and "Circa '46". I would suggest this album to anyone who has listened to TRS in the past, or any speculative shopper. Personally my favorite album from TRS was "Of men and angels", but give me some time and who knows....

If you are reading this review, consider buying this album... you won't be disappointed.

I love how Bryce evolves with his music yet stays true to his style. Take some time to look up the lyrics for this album, I was really impressed. One of my favorite songs is "Underrated" ["See the cuts on my hands? They hurt from working. Will I ever be deserving? Oh, help my eyes to see and not feel so underrated. I don't want to be one of those that stares at all the questions while the open doors they close. I just want to get out there. So with a humble heart, teach me some lessons. Show me to do my part in the place you have me standing. As I meet with humility, is it the injustices or pride that's killing me?"]
