What exactly is in the 3 disc version to warrant 3 discs? (standard dvd, digital copy, etc??)

I believe they are forcing us to buy a 3D, Blu Ray and Digital Copy of the Film, I'll pass as I have no interest in 3D

Just read on DVD Empire's website this edition includes the following (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy + UltraViolet). That's a good things all items in one box. Cheers!

I think 3D is gimmicky too but this is the first movie, that I've seen clips from, that actually makes me want to see it in 3D. Of course, there's also the "how did they make a movie out of that book?" factor.

The movie is amazing. I really had interest in seeing it and was so happily surprised by how great it was. I can't wait to see it in 3D!

Yes, the extras on the 3D disk are in 2D and worth seeing.

If you have a 3D blu-ray player, but not TV yet, can you still play the disc? (I realize it will not really be 3D)

I am still confused with everyone's input. If I have a Blu Ray player and an HD TV but no 3D, can I still watch the movie in BluRay?

No, you need a 3d tv, 3 d blu ray player, and the 3 d glasses (3d tv comes with them) to watch a 3d movie. Just the 3d blu ray player alone will only allow you to watch the standard 2d film. Hope this helps.

You can't play the movie in 3d if you don't have a 3d tv. However, everything else can be seen, even if you do NOT have a 3d Blu-ray player. a standard Blu-ray player will do. Of course, the PS3 doubles as a 3D player.
