Energetic, intense, peaceful, uplifting, trippy, brilliant. All of these words and more could be used to describe this mind-blowing CD from Andy Hunter. Following his fantastic debut album, Exodus, Hunter had a lot to live up to. Let me reassure you, he has not only lived up to Exodus, but he might have even surpassed it. From beginning to end, Life will never disappoint.
It should also be noted that Andy Hunter has retained his amazing Christian message, not selling out one bit. He is truly a blessing to world of electronica... Don't even hesitate, buy this CD now. The sooner you own it, the sooner you can experience this heaven-on-a-disc. Its one and only downside? With just 6 tracks at 43 minutes, you'll be begging for more!

Faultless high energy electronic dance music,

I raved about Andy Hunter's debut Exodus, his 2002 album which I still am amazed by. It would be a tough act to follow, yet he managed to put out music every bit as extraordinary in quality on this sophomore outing. The only drawback is that this time we got fewer songs, but on the other hand, the price is cheaper.
I became familiar with the album through the 4-track advance CD, which begins with "To Life, To Love," a song that I think is the perfect opener for the album. This commercial version begins with "Open My Eyes," a track that knocks you out of your chair right off the bat. On my own mix tape, I put "Open My Eyes" in the middle, after building up to its intense energy through previous tracks. But there are times when I'm in high gear and "Open My Eyes" is exactly what I want to hear first when I listen to Andy Hunter. "To Life To Love" works well as a final track too, though! Christine Glass, one of my favorite singers, appears again on this Andy Hunter release, as she did on his debut. (She sings on "Alive" here.) Thanks, Andy, for having her come back! May she always be a part of your albums! My one disappointment in this album is that I don't like the lyrics quite as well as those on the first album. But there is still enough here lyrically that it is still something that can keep you vertically focused. One of my favorite DJs is Tiesto, a DJ similar in style to Andy Hunter. But no DJ tops Andy Hunter in my book. Both Exodus and Life are superb albums that I will continue to listen to, and they'll never get old. Both of them get me on my feet dancing like no other albums.

For those of you who like Dance/Trance/Electronica music, go check out Andy Hunter's new album "Life". I love his music cause he bases his songs off passages of the bible. If you go to his site, [...] check out the "Lyrics and Inspirations" link. Pretty cool stuff...really great music...His music has been used in some movies (i.e., Italian Job), video games (i.e., Burnout Revenge), and some movie trailers because of the fast-paced feel of his music. Whenever I listen to his music, I always imagine a scene where there's some sort of car chase, or some person jamming in a sporty car down a long stretch of highway weaving in and out of traffic...

Life Is Good!,

I was really looking forward to hearing this new CD. I had enjoyed Exodus a lot and was hoping to grasp some more of Andy Hunter's musical view of life.
I put the CD into the player and waited for a nice intro but just about had a heart attack as it played the first track. Why had I left the volume on so loud yesterday. Man, that one started with energy! Called Open My Eyes, the first piece will do just that if you decided to play it first thing in the morning. You get directly involved into Andy's Universe. The second track, Come On, is just as fast paced, maybe even more. Definitely trying to keep you on your toes. Then I'm Alive, the third track, brings you into a quieter mode that lets you enjoy the feeling of the two previous tracks "I fell on top of the world" Wonderful comes next and it's probably the one that I like the least in the EP. It's advantage is that it lets me know that the next track is coming My favorite track, "Lifelight", is just the song that I need to listen to every time I have to focus on whatever I'm doing. I don't know why, maybe it's the switching of pace, or the general dynamic of the song; but I just love it! It's the song played the most on my ITunes. As for the last track To Life To Love, well it just musically concludes a pretty good CD. Buy it, it's worth it. And I hope Andy Hunter comes up with an LP soon.

Inspiration from above!,

This EP is "Alive" and "Wonderful"!! :-D (...sorry). At first listen, I didn't truly appreciate this EP. While I never disliked it, I thought Exodus was far superior. However after listening to it a few times along with Exodus, this managed to be on par with and even surpassing it in some areas.
What is really remarkable about this EP is that all the tracks has its own flavor, style, and are completely different from each other, yet still maintaining Andy Hunter's signature ambient sound which all fans of Andy Hunter should be familiar with. All of the tracks seem to fall into place flawlessly and with grace. None of it seems out of place. The start is hard and strong and as the CD goes on, it slowly becomes melodic, airy and light. It's incredibly pleasing to the ear. It starts off explosively with "Open My Eyes" which fills you up with adrenaline right from the start and the intensity continues with the second track "Come On". After that it slows down and the track "Alive" comes in. "Alive" fills in for "Amazing" from his previous album except this is 90 times better. The vocals are great and the entire song is structured like Hybrid - If I Survive (Wider Angle, awesome CD). I'm a huge fan of Hybrid so naturally I loved this track. The next track "Wonderful" is well...wonderful. It's very light and seems to fall into place instead of sounding forced. The next track "Lifelight" has characteristics of BT and his style yet still having its own distinctiveness and flavor to it. The last track "To Life, To Love" is a masterpiece. I love this track and its message about loving each other and working together. It's an appropriate end to the CD. I wish there were some more tracks, but I'm glad that at least he released something instead of nothing at all. For less than $10, there is no reason why any lovers of electronica/dance music should not get this. It's even better if you are an electronica lover AND a practicing Christian. Andy Hunter, your music is "so wonderful, you make me high" :-) 5 stars.

The reviews above are pretty self explanatory, Andy Hunter is in the top 10 on my list, and believe me I have a long one. Energy, Joy, Life radiates from every beat, every second, every track, you'll get inspired whether you're religious or not, and be warned, you will not be able to stop listening to it, I crave it so bad while at work, just can't wait for lunch, or break. If you were blown away by "Exodus" I can't imagine what will be your words for "Life" I really can't. Andy remains true to his original and revolutionary style, and this album is also enhenced by his new and powerful (personal) experiences, I think. He is a master of interpriting these new emotions and feelings, especially in "Alive". Andy gets you to the idea as close as he can, the rest of it only depends on you, Listen to it, absorb it, and consider yourself very lucky! I hope everyone gets a chance to experience such music or something equivalent!

Inspired music from an amazing DJ,

I used to frequently complain that Christian music was boring; that Christian music in general was uninspired copy-cat pop, unoriginal at best and unlistenable at worst. I was especially critical after Moby introduced me to electronica, and Play became my gateway-drug into all things dance, house, electronica, and trance. It seemed there was no Christian electronica being produced that was both (a) good, and (b) possessing some 'real' Christian principles. Sure there were bands like Newsboys or Delerius providing some solid songs with a message, but little to nothing in the way of electronica.
That is why Andy Hunter changed my world. When I first heard Exodus, I could not believe it was from a Christian DJ. The music was rich, the beats solid, and the lyrics poignant. It was so refreshing to hear music that I related to both musically as well as world view. I had massive expectations for "Life," Andy's second album released three years after "Exodus," and Andy delivered. "Life," is a fantastic collection of DJ beats that fudge the lines between dance and electronica, blending strong vocals with energetic beats that stir the soul. Each track is unique (a hallmark of Hunter) and stands on its own. There is no filler in this album, which is a good thing. Sadly, it means there are only 6 tracks, which makes this album a bit of a tease. Each of the songs is quite long (all over 6 minutes), but I would have liked to have at least 10 songs, considering Paul Van Dyk, Oakenfold, or Armin Van Burren regularly throw out albums with 12-15 tracks. Overall, this is an excellent album and deserves five stars, if not for the short number of tracks. I give it 4.5/5 stars.

Lifelight,
By
This review is from: Life (Audio CD)
The first time I had ever heard of Andy Hunter, my friend sent me one of his songs, Lifelight. I thought I wouldn't be interested because he was labeled as a Christian artist and most Christian praise music I've heard is just a little too "praisey" for me. (Although there are some good exceptions, like Lifehouse and Switchfoot.) So reluctantly, I played the track.
I listened to that one song practically non-stop for the next three days. If there was music playing, it was that song. And there was music playing for most of the day. After my Lifelight binge I began to explore more of Andy Hunter's music and have not been disappointed in the least by any of his tracks. Not long ago my room mate was going through some of my CDs and he borrowed Life while he went on a business trip. He came home and asked "Why didn't you tell me about Andy Hunter! He's awesome! Get more of him!" I told him about my Lifelight binge and he told me that he, too, had binged on that song (along with To Life, To Love) for most of his trip. If you like fast-paced dance music and don't mind an occasional and/or subtle reference to some deity out there in the vast, you should grab this album. However, I will take no responsibility if you binge on his music to a point that is bad for your health, if that's even possible. There is no way you can -not- like this.

I never really got into the dance scene until I heard one of Andy Hunter's songs on a sampler cd, and even after that it was some time before I bought Exodus. I purchased this CD at the same time (partly because it was half-price), and have never regretted it. The CD starts out with the intense "Open My Eyes", which will get you up and moving in no time. After that, the intensity continues with the fun and energetic "Come On". "Alive" slows things down a bit, but fits right in with the rest of the disc. Following that is "Wonderful", another slightly slower track with the same great message that's found throughout the CD. The next track, "Life Light", starts off slow but soon goes full blast into a really fun dance tune - driving beat, great sounds and awesome lyrics ("Whenever Your light shines / I can always find / Something more of life // Whenever You break through / Take me somewhere new / Deeper into You"). I can't get enough of it. The final track, "To Life To Love" is also a great piece, featuring the beautiful vocals of Christine Glass (half of the duo Glassbyrd) and some great mixing. Even though this is only an EP, at 42 minutes long, there's plenty of music here for everyone. Definitely recommended for anyone who likes dance music.
