Restore your natural sleep patterns gradually and easily with the revolutionary SleepKey.
Whenever you're in bed, SleepKey determines if you are awake or asleep based on whether or not you respond to a vibration or a low-volume tone. After assessing your sleep pattern for a week, SleepKey schedules a time for you to go to bed each night. Initially, this time-to-bed will be later than you are accustomed to, but SleepKey will continue to assess your sleep each night and then gradually adjust your time-to-bed until a normal sleep pattern is restored. SleepKey will also prompt you to get up if you are in bed too long without falling asleep. This program feature will train you to associate lying in bed with going to sleep, not staying awake. Throughout the program, SleepKey will give you feedback on your progress.

Why SleepKey?
It's simple. SleepKey restores your natural sleep patterns gradually and easily. It's regarded as one of the most effective treatments for sleeping difficulties, and it fits in the palm of your hand. Developed and evaluated with grants from the United States National Institute of Health, the SleepKey naturally restores your sleep without drug side effects or addiction. Tailored to your unique sleep pattern, this device is for anyone who is having troubles with their sleep-wake patterns. And it is easy to use; while you're in bed, press the awake key if you hear a low-volume tone or feel a vibration, and let SleepKey do the rest. SleepKey will help you return to a normal and restful night's sleep, one night at a time.

SleepKey develops a personalized, three-stage sleep restoration plan. Stage 1 lasts seven days. During this stage, SleepKey records your sleep pattern while your in bed based on your response to a low-volume tone or vibration. From this data, SleepKey helps you develop a regular wake-up time. Stage 2 follows immediately and can last 2-4 weeks. Based on your sleep pattern established in week one, SleepKey sets your bedtime and prompts you to get out of bed if you are not sleeping so that most of your time in bed is spent asleep. SleepKey then gradually adjusts your bedtime until you are getting a full night's sleep. The third and final stage last indefinitely. The bottom line is that SleepKey will help you maintain a full and restful sleep pattern for as long as wish to use the device.

What is Insomnia?
When you sleep according to your natural sleep-wake cycle, you should wake up feeling refreshed and well-rested. However, when your natural pattern of sleep is disrupted, you may experience insomnia, which can cause distress or interfere with daily functions. Most people experience brief bouts of insomnia, often caused by stress, physical discomfort, medication side effects, or a change in sleep schedule, such as jet lag. These acute episodes of insomnia typically last only a night or two until the situation that caused the sleep disturbance is resolved. Generally, after the situation is remedied, sleep returns to normal. Yet, about 10 percent of the population experience what is known as chronic insomnia, a sleep problem that can last for months or even years.

If a person experiences insomnia for a month or more, some form of treatment may be needed to restore restful sleep. There are many factors that can disrupt the normal sleep pattern to produce insomnia. These factors are commonly divided into Primary Insomnia and Secondary Insomnia. Primary Insomnia is a common sleep disorder and is not caused by any known physical or mental condition. Typically, it results from developed patterns of sleep behavior that interfere with the natural sleep-wake pattern. Secondary Insomnia differs from Primary Insomnia in that a specific medical or emotional condition is associated with the cause of the sleep disturbance. Secondary Insomnia maybe caused by sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, common medical problems (allergies, arthritis, heart disease, and more), substance use or withdrawal, or emotional problems (depression, anxiety, and others).

SleepKey Warnings
Because insomnia can be cause by such a wide array of conditions, it is important that you talk to your physician about your insomnia and what may be causing it. Your physician will probably ask you a number of questions about your sleep pattern and history, and may order tests to make sure that there are no other medical conditions causing your insomnia. It is important to know the cause of your insomnia before you consider treatments. Consult your physician before beginning any treatment for sleep disorders.

Product Description

SleepKey is scientifically based and its development was funded in part with grants from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health. Stage 2 (about 2-4 weeks): Based on your sleep pattern, SleepKey sets your bedtime and prompts you to get out of bed if not sleeping so that most of your time in bed is spent asleep. 2.0 out of 5 stars time consuming, November 24, 2008

Easy enough to use, but after a week I still wasn't sleeping (this process takes several weeks) I just wanted to get to sleep like a normal person, and this was not helping. I ended up getting the nightwave sleep assistant and it worked in 3 days. It's also cheaper. One thing that I wanted to mention is that when I bought this, I read all of the reviews (there were only 4, I think) and they were all glowing reviews. After I got this and felt that it wasn't so great, I checked the reviews again, and the people's other reviews, I realized that they only wrote reviews for lifekey products, so they obviously were not impartial. I learned my lesson and now I always check the person's other reviews! Everyone probably knows that, but this is my first purchase here. Oh well...you win some you lose some.........

5.0 out of 5 stars SleepKey Works!, April 25, 2006
This review is from: LifeSign SleepKey Handheld Insomnia Treatment Computer (Health and Beauty)
I found SleepKey to be surprisingly effective! The whole package--the hand-held computer and the informative documentation--helped me create an environment and discipline myself to get the restful sleep I craved. With this product, I was able to break some old, non-productive patterns and replace them with behavior that gives me a good, sound sleep. (And I can say this months after I completed the SleepKey program.) I highly recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars How it works, August 15, 2009

This review is from: LifeSign SleepKey Handheld Insomnia Treatment Computer (Health and Beauty)
Note this will only work if you get up at the same time every morning.

When you get the sleepkey computer you sleep normal for seven nights. When you are in bed the device emits a tone or vibration or both, your choice. If you hear or feel the signal then you push a button.
After seven nights it calculates how much you actually slept. Then it adjusts your bedtime so you sleep for the number of hours determined in the first week. I normally went to bed around 9:30 when I started but then I had to stay up until 11:45. The device still monitors your sleep and makes the signal and you push the button when you hear the noise.

The first week I felt great and I had a lot more time to do things at night. The device moves you bed time earlier when you don't push the button by about 15 minutes. By the third week I felt tired all the time and I frequently cheated by taking naps during the day because I felt so exhausted. Gradually my bed time moved earlier to about 10:00 and I felt that I had better quality sleep. When daylight savings time came around I felt pretty messed up for about a week but then I got back on schedule. I sleep better now and I feel that it helped me but the device is more for those with chronic insomnia rather than occasional insomnia.

I have also tried exercise, sleeping pills both prescription and herbs and combinations of herbs. This device worked the best for me.
