I'm a very fortunate 55 year old male that has recently developed/discovered hypertension very early on. Fortunate enough to take the lowest dose of medication w/ positive results. How do I know I have, and maintain positive results? Well through doctor visits & constant monitoring w/ the LifeSource Blood Pressure Monitor. This monitor has ease of use w/ accurate readings, "doctor's office verification", & leaves no doubt as to what your results are.

I'm eighteen years into working out & proper eating, and now I have stepped up my game. With this monitor, it allows me to help gage my health & tune my focus more on doing the right things to benefit myself & family.

I bought the UA-851 Digital Blood Pressure Monitor by Life Source to gauge my fitness progress, even though my BP is very good.
The dimensions are: 6" 5/8 High X 4.5" Deep X 6" Wide.

The product comes with:
- a blood pressure cuff
- 4 AA batteries
- a bilingual instruction guide (English & Spanish)
- a trilingual logbook with Healthy Heart tips (English, French & Spanish)
- a bilingual Quick-Start card (English & Spanish)
Note: an optional AC adapter can be purchased.

It takes a few minutes to read the instructions to get you started. The monitor is very easy to assemble and use, and the digital display conveniently shows large numbers. There is a convenient slot on the back of the monitor to store the BP cuff (see uploaded photos).

Measuring your blood pressure:
The silver Start button starts/stops the measurement process. The left side of the digital display shows the inflation status of the cuff. On the right side (from top to bottom) the display shows the systolic number (top BP number) the diastolic number (lower BP number) and your pulse. You will see the corresponding name or symbol on the left side of each number. It will even alert you if you have an irregular heart beat, in which case, you'd have to follow the directions in the instruction guide. On the far-left side of the digital display (on the white border), there is a 3-color rating indicator: Red (stage 2 hypertension), Yellow (stage 1 hypertension) and Green (normal). These show your BP classification based on your measurement.

Memory bank:
The monitor conveniently stores up to 90 measurements, but it doesn't show when they were saved. Access these readings by pressing the Start button for about 2 seconds. The total number of readings will flash at the bottom, right side of the screen. Then, the screen will begin showing each reading for about 4 seconds, starting with the most recent reading. To stop the process, simply press the Start button. Be forewarned that the readings in the memory bank will be erased whenever you remove or replace the batteries.

The logbook:
This booklet includes Healthy Heart Tips in 3 languages (English, French and Spanish), a 5-week log to track your blood pressure, as well as instructions on how to properly fill out the log.

This product is made in China.

I bought the machine for a daily blood pressure reading at the direction of my physician. I have found it to be very easy to use and the readings appear to be accurate. I would definitely recommend. The only con is that an electrical cord would have been preferred to using batteries but they seem to last pretty good.

I ordered this Blood Pressure Monitor from Amazon, and got excellent delivery. I immediately took it to my doctor's office and compared three readings with readings taken by the nurse with the ofice equipment. There was some minor variations with each reading, but overall, the readings were very close to the doctor's office readings.
I would have given this unit higher ratings if it was made in America. I am very leery of overall quality and durability of Chinese Products. My reason for choosing a Life Source product was that it is a company based in U.S.A., but upon receiving the product, it is marked "Made in China". It would help immensely if Amazon would clearly state where products are manufactured. Even at a 25% cost differential, I would rather buy a product from a known quality manufacturer.

This product is great it will give you readings even if you have irregular heart beat will also let you know that you have same. I was at cardiologist they had to take blood pressure readings 7 times and had no readings on 3 different readers then they did it the old fashion way with hand held pump and gauge. The Battery's come with this product say they last 4 months at 1 reading per day also unit has hole in back that you can plug transformer in if you have universal or you can buy from company as option. This is easy to use it holds 90 readings memory just hold start button it will access it and 1st reading in memory will give you an average of all readings in memory.I have a low heart rate with an irregular heart beat and this product picked up both. After stopping a sleep aid 2 nights ago my last 3 readings showed no irregular heart beat. This unit is bigger than i thought that is good also it came with a bonus pedometer that counts your steps distance and calories burned.Get it while you can i don't know how they are making a profit on this item.I just ordered one for my uncle the same day i received this he has fast heart rate Just read instructions it helps I paid $25.61 including shipping

This product stood up to all my expectations. It is easy to use and instructions were very easy to understand. I searched the web for all different brands and types and by accident, saw this in a local doctor's office. His staff was quite happy with the results they were having with it so I decided to try it. Very glad I did and the price was within my budget. A win all the way around.

I gave it 4 stars instead of five because the tube is short (annoyingly short). Unless a long tube makes it less effective or accurate, I would say that it's a shortsighted design. Other than that, it's well made and easy to use. It has been performing well so far. I will revise the review if it didn't perform as well down the road.

Works well but does not come with a power supply! uses 4 aa batteries. Can order a power supply form LifeSource at an extra cost. This should be clearly stated when people order this unit.

Unit is comfortable and easy to use. I was able to take my blood pressure without having to refer to the instruction manual; just slip on the cuff and press a button.
