I have used this unit every day for the past month, and it is reliable and simple to use. I purchased it after trying another monitor from CVS which gave me wildly different figures each time I used it.

I purchased the BP Monitor 6/12 and it arrived 6/18, shipping is fast and ordering is great. I tested the BP Monitor out as soon as i got home from my medical school, it works perfectly and there are no glitches the reading is acurate and setting the time, day and date with year and alarm is easy. the numbers are large enough to read without glkasses.
i am impressed with this unit so now i don't have to go to the drugstore to get a BP reading when i have to go to pick up allergy medicine, ect.
the cuff is large for arms 14.2 to 17.7, medium is for arms 9.2 to 14.2.
i normally would get a medium, but the large cuff fits good even if it overlaps a little. I might have to get the Medium cuff.

Unlike the review I posted Feb 4, 2011 on the grossly inaccurate Omron HEM-780 Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor with ComFit Cuff, leading to a return for refund, I can whole-heartedly recommend this automated BP monitor.

I have now taken many readings on 8 different people, following the same protocol of simultaneously measuring (sitting) readings with a Littman Cardiology Stethoscope and Baumanometer mercury sphygmomanometer on one arm, and this device on other. Then after 5 minutes, reversing arms and repeating. Also confirmed systolic readings with portable dopler of radial artery at wrist. This LifeSource UA-853LAC is extrememly close to actual measurements (+/- 3-6 mm) for both systolic and diastolic readings. I notice in contrast to the Omron, that this LifeSource model inflates and drops the pressure much slower (in increments of 2-5 mm Hg at a time) which is going to give much greater precision.

It has a 3 foot long tube, allowing you to place device on table while taking readings. They put an air pressure one-way equalizing vent in the middle of the 3 foot tubing for greater accuracy, since air pressure varies with temperature and ambient altitude. This cuff is easier to adjust and get an accurate fitting for a range of arm sizes than was the Omron. There are very few erroneous readings in contrast to the Omron because of the better fitting cuff, and more accurate electronics.

I don't see any downside to this device, other than a bit more expensive. But if you want accurate readings and an automated machine, this is the one to invest in.

This monitor is well worth the cost. We always used a "real" one with separate cuff & stethoscope. We brought this into our doctor's office and had it tested. It was doctor approved! Even though my husband's arms are much larger than mine, we can still share the same large cuff. I wish we had known that when we bought the machine and both the cuffs.

I'm quite happy with this machine. I took it with me to the doctor's to have its accuracy checked and they said it was right on. Extremely easy to use and it's fast.

I bought this monitor, plus a small replacement cuff. The original equipment works great; seems accurate compared with my last visists to the doc.

Word of advice though: I tried swapping the Large cuff out for a small cuff and ran into problems: LifeSource UA-279 Blood Pressure Monitor Cuff, Small (6.3" - 9.4").

The small cuff would not give a reading, or it would over inflate and error out. I tried a bunch of combinations with the large cuff adapter and hose, but never got the small cuff to work.

If you need multiple cuff sizes, you should probably buy a monitor that comes with each size. I ended up ordering a second monitor just for the small cuff. (I did keep this monitor with large cuff for myself though!)

purchased this product a week ago. have had Omron monitor and HoMedic monitors in the past. I have to rely on home monitoring as am afflicted whit 'clinical setting hypertension'. the 'Life Source' engineered by 'A&D Medical' is a very good piece of equipment. coming out of the shipping box, i was impressed with the quality of same. a place on back of monitor to even store the cuff. it was shipped with large cuff, which was to big for myself, i am 6'2" 225 lb male. was glad i ordered the medium size cuff with machine. probably the most accurate monitor i have owned. as referenced by another review here, has a nice slow uptake and same coming down for consistent readings. have not noted any erratic readings. last monitor was a 'Omron' and that sounded like a jet engine on takeoff and landing with to many erratic readings.

I have had it for about two weeks now. The readings have been all over the place. I bought this one because of the reviews stating their accuracy with the docs. I went to the docs today and read mine at home with this unit and it read 134/65 and at the docs it read 130/94 by his assistant and the next reading by the doc 10 minutes later was 160/90!!! I haven't had a reading over 72 on the second number at all and was very depressed to see these numbers at docs office. He even showed his equipment was verified on 9/10 and the sticker was on there. I could understand a small difference but not 25-30 points in an hour. I am calling Life Source tomorrow and am probably going to return this unit unless they can explain the big differences. Wanted to like this unit but not happening so far.

Great machine. Was highly recommended. Arrived fast. now if only my bp would go down. that would be great!!!!!

Exactly what we were expecting, no surprises. The cuff was large as advertised, seems to be accurate. Very fast delievery!
