Good quality scale. Seems accurate so far. I'm disappointed that the mult-user functionality is poor. My husband and I were hoping that we could both benefit from the scale. 5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for our needs, December 30, 2006
By
After going through two ~$50 digital scales that gave wildly different readings from one weighing to the next, we got fed up and decided to try the LifeSource. I'm very glad we did. This scale is both consistent and accurate. Consistent in that you can step on it ten times and you'll get the same reading every time. Accurate in that we compared our weight on it to the calibrated scale at our pediatrician and got exactly the same weight.

Knowing weight down to the tenth of a pound is nice, if a bit overkill for most people's needs. However, there is one area where this is really useful (and we've used it a lot for this purpose): if you are new parents and want to track the weight of your infant, this scale allows you to do that easily. We've been tracking our son's weight from birth to almost six months (next Wed) this way.

The trick to using this feature is to tap the "on" switch, and step on the scale before it registers a weight. Then one parent stands on the scale and is handed the infant. The scale will only measure the infant's weight; the parent's weight will be taken as part of the baseline. Once you try it it's an extremely simple method, and every time we've done it and then had a follow up exam at the pediatrician, the results have been spot on as mentioned before. Keep in mind that this scale is a whole lot cheaper than a dedicated infant scale, and more versatile. The only real downside is that a very squirmy kid (as ours is nowadays) will take a little longer to get an accurate reading than a calm one, but nothing is perfect.

It's a lot to spend for a scale, but, assuming it lasts a while (it seems well built and I expect it not to die any time soon), it's worth having something that just works as you expect it to. New parents: this is one purchase you might not get at a baby shower, but is well worth it for piece of mind. Plus, it looks pretty slick ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent scale, February 26, 2007

This scale is the real deal. I am very happy with mine. I've compared it twice to the reading on an expensive commercial digital scale in my doctor's office and got the same reading to 0.1 lb. The stainless steel finish would seem to fit in most any decor. The only small negative is that the reading can swing a tenth or two, but that goes away once you learn how to properly use the scale without shifting your body weight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Scale!, October 30, 2007
We have been very happy with this scale. It is accurate to .1 pound, which can be very important when you're trying to lose weight (seeing even a little bit of a drop can be excellent motivation!) You can step on it several times in a row and get the same number each time. We have been through many scales in the past, including some of the nicer digital scales from Taylor and Weight Watchers and the LifeSource scale has been far superior. It is very easy to use. There are other bells and whistles that we have not used - we use it as just the standard "turn it on, step on and get a number" type of scale.

It is well worth the price and is the most accurate, easy-to-use scale that I have ever owned.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good SINGLE USER functionality., February 6, 2008
This review is from: LifeSource UC-321 Precision Personal Health Scale (Health and Beauty)
Good quality scale. Seems accurate so far. I'm disappointed that the mult-user functionality is poor. My husband and I were hoping that we could both benefit from the scale. Getting to the controls and setting a target weight and utilizing the memory functions requires handling the scale, picking it up and flipping the switch on the reverse side. This would not be a big negative for a single user, but with more than one user, it is. If I set my target or use the memory function, everything works well. The scale weighs me and notes the differences - reminds me of my last weight, etc.. But if my husband wants to use the scale and set his, then mine must be overridden and the scale must be picked up, turned over, etc.. If I get back on, it has his target weight, etc.. Not good.

A very nice positive to the scale is that some feet are added in the packaging that allows me to set this on the carpet. In my thicker bedroom carpet, no dice. In my living room with finer carpet, it works great. For hard, flat surfaces, the feet need not be applied. Even on the carpet the weights are consistent within 1/5th of a pound. All in all, a scale of high quality.. If you need a scale that weighs accurately and is precision-built, this might be a good choice.

The negatives are partly my fault for concluding that a scale that costs this much and has 31 memory functions does not allow for concurrent multiple users.. because nowhere does it state that it's multi-user friendly.. Nevertheless, the picking up and turning over of the scale to change user functions is a negative for any user environment. It seems to be that they might have expanded multi-user functions with buttons like some scales in the Tanita line, or added some to the side... but their design may not allow for that. I don't know yet if I will send it back.

3 stars for multi-user families, 4 stars in a single user environment.

I don't have a reference weight to judge its accuracy, but its precision is phenomenal. Most scales claim a resolution (say 0.2 lb), but they can't repeat it on multiple weighings. Our Health-o-meter Walmart special had a resolution 0.2 lb, but varied by ±1.4 lb over 10 measurements. This scale was within ±0.05 lb over 10 weighings. Since repeatability is most important to me, this was excellent.

I am a large guy, so I needed a scale with this capacity. We have owned this scale for over five years now, and it stills works just like it did brand new. With a 300 lb+ guy hopping on and off all these years, you know it is rugged! I am all about quality, durable well thought out products, and this scale has proved to be all of those. Thanks, Lifesource!

Finally found a scale that's dead on to my Doctor's full size mechanical scale. Very easy to use and stylish as well. This will probably be the last scale I will buy.

We'd been reading reviews and looking for scales on Amazon for years when we saw this one. We were hesitant to buy them since it seemed the other scales had a lot of problems with accuracy and consistency. Generally scales are not precise to a tenth of a pound as this one is, either.

This scale is consistent, accurate and precise. It accurately measures my basal body weight to within a tenth of a pound. After I've had a big meal or if I have clothes on, it measures the additional amount. It matters if you shift around on the scale, so you need to stand still. Also, the instructions are clear in that the scale should be on a flat, level surface.

It is very simple to weigh our little Yorkie. It has a feature that allows you to set a reference weight (your weight) to zero and then you pick up the dog (or whatever) to see exactly how much it weighs. It came out exactly the same as the vet's scale.

We'd considered getting the compact version of this, but this one is really not that big. Very light and thin. We are quite happy with it. We need accurate weights so it was worth the extra money to get a scale that consistently tells the truth. What is the point of a scale that is off by several pounds each time you use it, even if it is cheap?

This is a quality scale. It's a bit spendy, but it's accurate and precise. I recommend it for someone who appreciates quality and is willing to pay a little extra to get it.
