1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the hassle, November 10, 2010

This review is from: Lifecore LC3000 Mid Size Light Commercial Grade Elliptical Trainer (Sports)
I ordered this Dec 2009, they stalled the shipment and I didn't receive it until Mid Jan 2010. It worked well for about a month then started to grind when used. Next thing I know the pole that hold you up comes off the rail and onto the floor. I call Lifecore and the customer service personal says it's the fly wheel it happens "all the time", try this, but it didn't work, I call back and requested that they send a repair person to fix it (per warranty agreement) the repair man never came. So I call back, he's (customer service rep) not in, he's busy, he's not in, he's busy. I haven't spoken with anyone who will help me to this date, 8 months later. Meanwhile the dang thing sits like a giant metal sculpture on my bedroom floor. NOT good! DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM LIFECORE IF YOU HAVE NEED OF IT! THEY WILL NOT HELP YOU. We are going to the BBB about this now. So do yourself a favor and save yourself the unending hassle and extreme cost (we paid $1,000 + for the sculpture). Buy another brand and stay the heck away from Lifecore!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A great workout, March 29, 2010

The elliptical is a great way to workout. I really like that you can increase the intensity. This is good for short people. The stride does not go very far. It is a very big piece of exercise equipment. It is a good thing we have 11 foot high ceilings.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not what I was hoping for, March 8, 2010

This review is from: Lifecore LC3000 Mid Size Light Commercial Grade Elliptical Trainer (Sports)
My husband has always been really into ellipticals as his form of aerobic activity, but we were only able to use them at the gym. We own a treadmill, which I use, but he was non-compliant. He's a big guy, right at the 300 mark, so when I started researching ellipticals, I knew I would need to find one with a bigger user capacity. Most of the ellipticals on the market for home use have a maximum capacity of 275 or 300 lbs. Even though he's right at this size, I didn't want him to feel like he was on something flimsy. So, I searched for one with a larger capacity. This one says its capacity is 350 lbs. We ordered it, and he was really excited about getting some activity in at home. The first time he used it, the right "wheel" slipped off track and made this very loud and skin-crawling squeaking noise. He was not able to use it. Amazon gave us the choice of having the company come out and fix it, or they would pick it up as a return. We really wanted an elliptical, so we had LifeCore come out and fix it. LifeCore was unable to fix it, and Amazon accepted it as a return. Best part of the experience: Amazon and LifeCore are both awesome companies to deal with. However, they should not advertise a machine with a 350-lb capacity, when a 300-lb person is unable to use it without it breaking.

Sadly, I think people in this 300-lb and up range should stick with a treadmill or spend a lot of money on a gym quality elliptical. The beauty of the elliptical is the ease on the joints, especially for people who are larger. Hopefully, some company will come up with an affordable, quality, at-home elliptical for larger folks who are trying their best to shed pounds.
