A friend of mine wanted me to listen to the song "Drive Until He Sleeps". This is a great tune, and apparently fairly popular. If you stop here, it would be a crime. The rest of this CD is equally good with tracks such as "Blood in the Air" and "The Fortunate One Knows No Anxiety". This CD is very tight and I think fans of bands such as Isotope 217, Tortoise and To Rococo Rot will appreciate it.

Ui's Lifelike is totally out of time and out of actual fashion. The three Ui's musicians make us enter in their little world. If you like some free-jazz-progressive rock, you can easily go for it. The drum is always there with a tipical dry sound, the line of bass sounds very good and the small cheap sound effects are very relaxing. It's quiet, it's fresh, it's all the way good for the fan of new jazz-rock bands.

I was lucky enough to see UI live. It was the first time I was ever exposed to them. Wow! These guys were hypnotic. And this album is no different.

Everyone I have ever played to this album to, freaks out. Usually in the middle of the first song. (Drive Until He Sleeps - which is a brilliant song.) I was burning a bunch of CDs for a friend, and he asked me which one he should listen to. I told him that this disk will make him sh*t his pants. I got an email a few days later, confirming just that.

This is album is just plain great. Buy it. Buy it. Buy it.

If you like Ui you might like Big Lazy. They're a trio also out of New York. Less electronic but that same "wierd" vibe. Also a little darker. For what it's worth.
