Adjustment Not So Bad,

Although the previous review is correct in that there is a 'gap' between the last bead and the handle, I would not have noticed it without having it pointed out to me.
On the other hand the rope is quite easy to adjust because of that 'feature'. In reading reviews of other jump ropes on Amazon it seems to me that this one is probably better than most when it comes to adjustment. As far as functionality it works fine, I wish I could jump rope better, but that's my problem (!) If color is important I will note that I thought it would be yellow and black as the illustration on the website, but it turned out to be gray and black. A pretty dull color combo. Looks like you can get a choice of color if you pick the ones that come direct from the mfgr but then you have to pay shipping, mine came thru Amazon Prime. Who would have thought there would be so much to say about a jump rope? P.S. It's nice to buy something that doesn't come with a 'power brick', SD card or USB cable...

I've had mine for 35 years.,

I really don't know much about the finer points of rope jumping so I can't compare this rope to others. All I can say is it's been a reliable and fun training partner since I was in college. I've never regretted the purchase. Working out with a jump rope is a great idea and this one fits the bill nicely.

This is the rope I started off with. Since it's a bit heavier than a speed rope, it's not as fast so you go pretty slow with it. It doesn't kink plus since it is heavier, you could mess up a bit and the rope will still keep turning (by that, I mean that your feet may skim the rope but the rope is heavy enough that it does not stop). When I originally started to do tricks, I found it easier to work it out on beaded ropes and once I got the hang of it, then went to a speed rope (although now that I have a freestyle rope, that is the best way to go with the longer handles). Again, the fact it doesn't kink and get tangled makes it easier to master the cross. Double unders are a little tougher with these but it will give you a workout once you get to that point. I don't use beaded ropes anymore but I highly recommend them. Plus beaded ropes are the best ropes if jumping outside if the plastic beads are made of good material. Your rope won't wear out (not that I advocate jumping on concrete but once in a while it's okay)

Essentially, the design of this rope seems to be an after thought.
The way you adjust the length of this rope is to tie a knot at the end of the handle. Then when the knot is pulled inside the handle it leaves obvious space between the "ball bearing" and the handle grip. Just doesn't look right...

I love this jumprope. Others have put marks on my arm when I missed and this doesn't, but I don't miss as much with this on. The product was shipped promptly and in good condition.

Easy to adjust for my height. I took lots of links out since I'm short. I save the plastic links to reinsert when the bottom ones get worn down. I had this same rope many years ago and loved it then and still like it. It doesn't get tangled like the plastic tube kind does. Working up to 2000 jumps per day should help with fitness and weight loss. Now its up to me to practice daily.

A Great Rope,

I know people complain about beaded ropes. Leather is better, speed ropes are this and that...I have owned three Lifeline ropes over the last 30 years. I have only had to replace the first two because of losing them in moves. The weighted handles are nice, and the weighted rope helps me keep a good rhythym.

1 month and broken handle part,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Each string end passes through a ball, which mounts in a plastic cup, which fits in the handle end. One of these cups is breaking up after one month. This cup doesn't do anything though because each handle has about four inches of bare string before you get to the beads and the cup and ball just slide down the string.
I have not seen a beaded/segmented rope without at least three inches of bare line at each end. Why don't you guys supply about eight beads that are diagonally split that could be fit on the rope ends after setting the length - or something. The solid plastic ropes may not last as long as the beaded ropes, but they don't have the "missing, shifting beads" problem and are easy to length adjust. |
