Book Description

August 1, 1997 Star Trek Voyager: Starfleet Academy (Book 1)
Cadet Kathyrn Janeway, the ambitious daughter of Vice Admiral Edward Janeway, is determined to prove herself at Starfleet Academy. Her tough commander, Etienne Mallet, demands perfection, but Kathyrn is ready for the challenge.
It isn't easy, especially with two "two" roommates: a pair of identical Diasoman twins named ThrumPol. Kathyrn thinks she can face the pressure alone, but when she and Pol fail their second dorm drill and Mallet assigns them to a holodeck test, Kathyrn panics. Suddenly, she's out of control!
It's time to call on her secret weapon to help her through the crisis...until Mallet discovers her weakness and issues the ultimate challenge....

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected, December 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Lifeline (Star Trek Voyager: Starfleet Academy No. 1) (Paperback)
I am a huge Voyager fan and have read every book religiously. Needless to say, I was thrilled when I found this series. However, I was not prepared for this book to be written for teenagers. In fact, in the back of the book, there is an advertisement for "The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo", a Nickelodian sitcom. The book was good, just be prepared for this to be geared towards teenagers. If you are a Star Trek fan and you have teenage or pre-teen children, this is for you. Or, if you are a Voyager fan, its worth the read for the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good read for both Adults & Youth. Great artwork!, September 4, 1998

I own all three in this series (Voyager), and as I understand it, there won't be anymore due to low sales. Darn that bottom line! These are wonderful early Janeway stories; quick reads for adults, although a young person might need a little more time. The thing that drew me most to these books was the artwork. Can't quite remember the artist's name (wanna say Somebody Palmer? Jason?) They are black-and-white sketches that go perfectly with the storyline. All keepers for me, and I ain't no kid!
