I have been a pet owner 30+ years, and always have had dogs. I worked for Aspen-Booda products and was a representative for Vitarex Dog Food which is exclusive to Petco. I was educated about dog food and what is IN dog food. Very sobering. Since then I have tried and researched many products. This is definitely my favorite so far. The ingredients and processing are superior. My 2 dogs both love this. I particularly wanted to relieve allergy itching and this has made a big difference. I tried lots of products for allergies but when my Boston/Chihuahua got on this, wow, what a difference. I still had some old food left and decide to mix the 2 together to finish it off. Lo and behold, the itching came back! A coincidence? I don't think so, she's now back to Life's Abundance and we are all happy! The Pomeranian too! PS ~ I do not work for this company :-)Life's Abundance Premium Health Food for Cats - 6.6lb Bag

We have a rescued Collie mix about 12 yrs old and a 18 month old German Shepard. Once we researched what is in other dog foods we choose Life's Abundance. A few months later when they both got sick right after opening a new bag of food I called the company as an FYI. Even thou our vet was sure it was not the food. Dr. Jane called personally and we discussed our situation. In this day and age I was worried about contamination. She tested our own sample and called again to check on our dogs. She is a marvelous person that stands behind what she sells. The food was NOT at fault but how many other businesses out there would take the time to research and contact the consumer. I HIGHLY recommend this product.

the ingredients are great, the food is heavier than normal bi-product filled dodg food, so the quantity i feed them is less...my dogs love this food, as i mixed it with their old dog food to get them adjusted to it, it was pretty well impossible because they would eat around their old dog food and go for life's abundance instead...great product!!!

My Golden Retriever was moved over to Life's Abundance Dog Food over one year ago. I was interested in a dog food that was fresh, free of preservatives and would potentially reduce the amount of itching my dog was doing. I looked at a number of different foods, more than I ever thought I would do for "dog food". But we lost our previous dog many years too soon and I felt that even though the food was expensive in comparison, I wanted a better food for the dog we have now. There is nothing more important that you can do each day for your beloved pet than to care about what they are eating. Once the research was done, it is now so easy to make sure that he always has food available. I purchased a large plastic container with a circular closeable lid from Costco which keeps the food fresh up until a new bag is poured in. That is a huge help and eliminates any mess while keeping the food enjoyable for the dog.

One thing to keep in mind is that this is a 40 pound bag of food or about 1.70 a pound before tax and/or shipping. So when comparing price make sure you are comparing the same size bag. I thought that some other premium foods were cheaper but they were just lighter bags. Pay attention to that if you are counting your dollars. Also the other reviewer who said it is difficult to change the auto ship could not have been any more inaccurate. I have the dog food set up on auto ship at a specific amount of time. I get a new bag every 6 weeks or so. But for whatever reason, sometimes the food lasts a little longer and I'm not ready for a new 40 pound bag when I have plenty left in the container. A 2 minute phone call is all it takes and the customer service rep on the phone will change your ship date to whatever you want. I have done this numerous times without any problems. AND the people I speak to on the phone are always helpful, understand what I want to do, can locate my account and know what I am buying and they speak clear fluid ENGLISH. I don't get a crazy amount of email, and I suspect you can change your privacy settings reduce the amount of mail you get as is the same with most companies. You just have to spend two minutes and weed out what you don't want.

I also order the healthy dog treats. One for his teeth and one for low fat healthy treat for training. Why get great dog food then give your dog inferior treats. If you are committed to healthy food for your pet, then buy the treats too. Mine last a long time and if you get on autoship, they are cheaper. Because we were cutting back on expenses, I cancelled the wholesome hearts for now and kept the dental treats. I had no problems canceling one of the treats and I change the shipping on those back to around every 4-5 months. He only gets one or two treats a day so they last a while. I feel better knowing that my dog does not get any table scraps, (so he doesn't beg), doesn't get fed crappy people food that is not good for dogs and is getting a healthy daily dog food and treat every day.

Don't underestimate the benefit of not having to drag a 40 pound bag of dog food into the grocery cart, into the car and then into the house. The UPS guys brings it to my front door. My autoship invoice is 72.83 including tax and shipping. I get up to date emails on when the food is planned to ship so that I have ample time to hold off for a week or two if I'm not ready. Once it ships, I get shipping info and updates on when I can expect to receive it. This company has it all figured out and they make it really easy. Dad always said, you never will be sorry when you pay for the best. And for only a few bucks more to get the best dog food delivered to my door is worth every penny to me. If none of this matters to you, then you can find dog food for lots less money. If you love your pet and feel this small investment in his and your happiness is affordable, then look no further and read no more web pages. Your dog and you will love and appreciate the ease and quality of your purchase.

Expensive, but worth it. My dogs' itchy skin went away in 1 month. We are all happier!

We have a German Shepherd that has a very bad stomach problem and was on medicine for that problem. Within a month on being on Life's Abundance we no longer have to give him any medication. The price is high, but you are also getting human grade food. The dog food is also very fresh, not sitting around a truck for months and then being sold.Life's Abundance by far is a great product.

I just wanted to comment on this dog food -- I was personally affected with the IAMS 2010 RX dog food recall and the havoc that IAMS food caused to my sweet boy with his health. I learned of Life's Abundance through my breeder. This is an exceptional product, delivered timely and a high quality food product. My pup is doing great on it and I also now give it to my other pup. I feel strongly about a quality food especially after the awful poisoning / contamination of the dog foods with companies that are careless ... Clearly this is a company that takes the pets health and quality control seriously -- Thank You Life's Abundance!

I tried this food on the recommendation of the trainer who was helping me with my "devil dog". The trainer said that sometimes a change in diet can cause a change in behavior by eliminating allergens, and the dog was driving me nuts so I thought it was worth a shot. I didn't want to deal with two kinds of food, so I switched both of my dogs to Life's Abundance just for convenience. Devil dog is as wicked as ever, but I had a nice surprise with my other dog. The skin problems that have literally tormented my 11 year old mini schnauzer for years have disappeared. We had tried other foods for the skin problems without success, we tried medications, we tried special shampoos. The only thing that helped at all (and it wasn't much) before the food switch was 1/4 of a claritin tablet daily. My dog had scratched her left ear so often and consistently that it had thickened to a quarter-inch and was coarse like elephant hide. This food has made such a big difference in my schnauzer's quality of life!

An unexpected benefit of using this food is that when I did the math, I found this food is actually less expensive than the food that I was getting at the pet store, even when delivery is included. And best of all, I don't have to hoist a big bag of dogfood into a shopping cart and then out of the trunk of my car. I didn't expect to like the autoship feature, but I tried it and was pleased with how easy it was to change my schedule online.

My wife and I are long time dog owners and just lost our 15 1/2 year old golden retriever 3 1/2 weeks ago. We purchased a really adorable 5 month old goldendoodle "comfort reteiver" one week ago from a breeder. He bonded very quickly to us and we really love this dog. The only problem is that he didn't want to eat the breeder recommended Lifes Abundance dog food. The breeder told us that he was a picky eater and not food motivated. We were having to mix his food with cottage cheese, wetting it, and even hand feed him one piece at a time. We took him to our vet two days after picking him up and the vet gave him a clean bill of health. We asked them about Lifes Abundance food and nobody at the clinic had heard of it. Our vet listed the top five pet food companies and said that these major companies spend millions in research to develop high quality and balanced pet foods targeted to the dog's age and breed type. The clinic provided us with a little care package provided by Hills Science Diet - no strings attached. It included a sample bag of puppy dog food. We had no intentions of using it. A couple days later we had the opportunity to ask a second vet friend about Lifes Abundance - same answer - never heard of it. Just yesterday, we decided to try a little bit of the sample puppy food from Science Diet - he ate it right up. So then we decided to make the switch. We mixed some of the Science Diet in with the Lifes Abundance - he picked out all of the Science Diet and left the Lifes Abundance. After talking to our vet about this, it was suggested that we just go ahead and make a complete switch. Today was our puppy's first full day on the Science Diet. He is now eating well and his stool this evening was still nicely formed. We will be donating the 40 pound bag of Lifes Abundance to an animal shelter.

As of 6/20/2012: Although our 6 month old puppy was eating much better with the Science Diet, we decided to try Blue Buffalo puppy food (Chicken and Brown Rice) after a friends recommendation and checking out reviews. We started changing him over on June 1 and he has now been completely on it for about 2 weeks. He "LOVES" it and eats it all up in one standing - no more going back and forth to the food bowl. It has a great fresh smell and great ingredient list. We think we found a winner. Although the Lifes Abundance also has a great ingredient list, our puppy really didn't like it. We're not saying that it's a bad food, just that our puppy didn't like it. We did donate the Lifes Abundance to a local animal shelter and are very happy with the Blue Buffalo puppy food - Chicken and Brown Rice.

I have 4 Doxie's and have been on this food for almost a year now per recommendation of my breeder. The shipping is fast and the food sounds to be good for them but I am not completely convinced this is actually the best food for my dogs. One of my Doxie's can't stand the taste. (The other 3 will eat anything.) They have all started eating each others feces which is something they started after I put them on this food. After researching this problem the sites and Vets say they are low on different vitamins that they are not getting in their food. Lifes Abundance brags that you will never need another vitamin supplement for your dogs because this food has it all. As far as allergies, etc. my one Doxie scratches all the time so this food has not helped her. Although I do not know if this food has any bearing, another one of my Doxies actually got an upper respiratory infection which was quite serious. As of right now I am still feeding them this food but am currently researching other brands that may be better and taste better to them.
