4.0 out of 5 stars Electric Company, May 12, 2006
By
This review is from: Life's a Struggle (Audio CD)
Electric Company is made of founder (Producer/MC) Insight & Mc's -Dagha, Ra, MoePope & Anonymous. Life's a struggle is a short album (approx 33 minutes) which is ideally feel-good music that focuses on the idea of appreciating life and helps highlight all of the creature comforts that we all share. This is fun, laid back hiphop reminiscent of Jurassic 5 (with all members trading verses, back and forth with the group choruses) made for those sunny days where you need some inspiration to get up in the morning. Now from all this, you've probably got the impression that this is some cheesy/corny hiphop album that is only playable at certain times. Wrong. If you know, Insight is one of the best producers out at the moment, and creates some beats that are so refreshingly hard-hitting you will be replaying this album again & again before you can make your mind up as to whether you actually like it! All 5 Mc's come correct for this, so there is no inconsistencies, just a 33 minute ride of solid conscious hiphop. Peep this along w/ Insight's debut "Blast Radius". PEACE

Lyrics - 8/10

Origianlity - 9/10
Replay Value - 10/10

5.0 out of 5 stars Real Hip Hop, July 29, 2004
This review is from: Life's a Struggle (Audio CD)
They straight ripped it, no contest. I make people listen to this in my tattoo studio and they beg to let me know who it is. Now I hear it rolling down the street. This is the type of vibe that keeps hip hop alive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Positive Hip-Hop at its best, August 20, 2005

This review is from: Life's a Struggle (Audio CD)
First off, Insight is one of the craziest hip-hop producers today, period. If you haven't heard about him, research his solo stuff. You won't regret it. However, if you're already farmiliar with Insight you'll know that this is his groups first debut LP, and it couldn't sound any better. From songs like "Relax Today," with a Hawaain sample as the beat with "Relax today, worry tommorow / Ease up, thats the motto!" as the lyrics, to songs like the title track which stands out in hip hop right now like no other "conscious" rap track.

If you're sick of the general "conscious MC" in underground hip hop today, this is an AMAZING alternative. It's a CD you can chill back to and it can instruct your mind into getting in a positive groove about life. No other hip hop CD I know of can do this; buy it immediately.

One more thing, if you like this CD, 3 of the members from Electric formed another group called Project Move. Their album is released this September.

5.0 out of 5 stars ONE FOR THA CRATES, April 29, 2005

They're called Electric and that's exactly wot they bring to the mic- STATIC HIPHOP IN IT'S PUREST FORM.From that"get up and groove"vibe (ELECTRIC-REMIX, LATE SHOW) to those" feel good" trax you just wanna chill to (RELAX,CAN'T STOP). These guyz have truly grabbed hold of a style which iz hella hard to find, in these days of mainstream ABC CAT IN THA HAT RAPPERZ its great to see there are still artists out there that still focus on spreading a message other than money, hoes an clothes. If you enjoy music from-FIVE DEEZ,SOUND PROVIDERS,PROCUSSIONS.You're gonna dig this. Life's a struggle iz.........ill beats, clever rhymes,a splash of jazz mixed wit' alot more. Even if you're not big on rap, i still recommend you give this album a chance.Az for you hiphop fiends THIS IS A MUST HAVE !!! Much luv to all y'all who keep the underground alive.

5.0 out of 5 stars True Hip-Hop Is Definitely Still Alive!!!, January 25, 2005

For those of us who long for the return of the days when hip-hop was about who had true "mic skillz" and who had songs that were not only hot and that will make you want to dance, but that were also positive and about something... You'll definitely want to check out "Life's a Struggle"!!! If you're anything like me, then you're tired of hearing artists rhyme about corny things that life isn't about such as wealth, material things, and immorality. This album definitely reassures me that "true hip-hop" is still alive!
