5.0 out of 5 stars Mr. North is refreshing and full of talent
Mr. North was the opening act for Brian Adams in Boston this past summer. I wasn't thrilled about sitting through an unknown opening act but changed my mind from the moment I heard the guitarist and drummer start it up! The music was melodic, the lyrics are different - worth listening to. All band members were obviously "ON" this night. Most impressive was the lead...

1.0 out of 5 stars Tepid, Blathering Nothing
Saw this band at SPAC last night. Couldn't disagree more with previous reviewer. Nothing new, original or close to resembling interesting. Sounds totally melded into amorphous noise.....no real melody, trite lyrics. Pretentious depth is not real depth. Staged 'corporate' performance if I've ever seen or heard one. Drummer showed real ability....lead singer has a...

Most impressive was the lead singer. He reminded me a bit of combined Robert Plant, Billy Squire, with a touch of his own brand of uniqueness. I totally enjoy this CD, played at least a couple time a week, and have never tired of it. I particularly like the "hidden song" on the last track.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great band!, January 30, 2005
This review is from: Lifesize (Audio CD)
I saw Mr. North in Las Vegas when they opened for Van Halen, and I was impressed!! The sound of the band was great and before they walked off stage, I had already bought their CD. Reading their history, I could see how they reached fame in Europe so quickly. I was excited to see the greatest rock band ever and didn't think the opening band would leave much of an impression on me, but, they did. Hey, opening for Van Halen must mean they're doing something right. I highly recommend Mr. North to anyone out there trying to find something new to listen to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Let Them In, October 5, 2004
This review is from: Lifesize (Audio CD)
Yes!!! Mrnorth Yes!!!

I learned of this band because they opened for a "Live" concert that I went to see. Immediately, I was hooked by the music and the performance, especially the singers' voice and showmanship. They sound really great! I'm so thankful I went to that concert!

A friend of mine who listened to the album with me said that Mrnorth sounds like a combination of Radiohead and Depeche Mode, but more like the first than the second one. I agree with him although I'm not quite a follower of those two bands' music.

In this time of music, in which I find myself struggling to adapt to the sounds, I have finally found a music group that satisfies my ears, at least for now. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND IT!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars " Lifesize"....Absolutely Brilliant!, May 2, 2005
This review is from: Lifesize (Audio CD)
What an amazing debut album! These irish guys formed a band in Dublin in the late 1990's & are now based in Quenns N.Y. I was given this album as a present from a friend who lives there & on the first listen I was hooked. The lead singer Colin Smith hits the high notes like Jeff Buckley, which says a lot for his amazing talent. Adrian Mordaunt on drums is outstanding & has a similar style to Matt Cameron(ex Soundgarden & Pearl Jam). Talented brothers Emmet & Oisin O Malley play bass, guitar, keyboards and vocals. Together these guys really rock and their album Lifesize is in my car cd player for over four months and i'm still listening to it. Track four "wastin'" is still my favourite. I cannot recommend it enough. Just go & buy it, you will NOT be dissappointed. Check their site mrnorthmusic.com. I can't wait for the new album. Lifesize, 12 moving tunes of epic proportions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent debut album, September 17, 2004
This review is from: Lifesize (Audio CD)
This is a truly great band. Great musicianship and vocals, but what sets them apart is their writing. "Speak No Evil", "Let me In", and "Lifesize" in particular are beautifully crafted yet rocking tunes. Great live act as well.

2 words to describe this album - Excellent ! ... An amazing album from start to finish ... No album filler or average tracks here, something you rarely find these days... Heard of them through mp3.com and was delighted when I finally got my hands on a copy of Lifesize. Expect to hear a lot more from these guys in the future.

This is a great CD with a variety of different songs. I like most classic rock, some newer stuff and I loved this CD. I ordered it 2 months ago and have had 4 more friends go out and get it because they liked it so much. I think they have some free songs to sample on their website, so take a listen and see if you like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars These guys rock., December 22, 2005
This review is from: Lifesize (Audio CD)
This is one the best albums ever produced. I was turned on to Mr North through a Bryan Adams concert and fell instantly in love with the music and the group. I bought the cd that night and they signed it after their performance. I went out of my way to see them live again with Journey and then again at a local bar. One of the few bands who don't disappoint live. The album is fresh and the lyrics provacative. The band is friendly and fun to watch and hear perform. I have and will continue to recommend this album to any one who truly loves music. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the very best ...., April 17, 2005
This review is from: Lifesize (Audio CD)
Aside from Rooster's self-titled debut cd, this cd is the only other in my collection that I actually like every song on the cd. From the slowburning opening track Let Me In, you know you are in for something special with these guys yet the following 3 songs, Speak No Evil, Start from A and Wasting would not appear out of place on any hard rock cd on the planet. The Eye and My Love are perfect "middle of cd slow down to catch your breath" songs before things get seriously left of centre with the mesmeric "The Bearded". The title track Lifesize merges perfectly with Silver Mouth (you have to hear the opening guitar chords to this song !). Finishing up, Give Me Life should have Brian May et al knocking on Colin Smith's door and asking him to front Queen's summer tour while Bring It On (being the band's best known song in this reviewer's eyes) is a belter to finish the cd off ....... save for the now customary "hidden track" at the end "King Solomon" which, for the record, a colleague thinks is the bands best song. Aside from Bring it On, I tend to agree with him. Roll on CD number 2 .....
