I have taught (and taken) courses in Child Development and Lifespan Development with numerous textbooks, and this was definitely my favorite. The text is exceptionally thorough and includes a balance of theory and application. Relevant research is discussed throughout, in a way that is interesting and engaging and emphasizes the importance of scientific rigor in studying development. Most of all I appreciate the personal, direct voice of the text, as if I am listening to the author talk. Some other texts actually make reading about lifespan development boring (hard to do but can be done!) This one very effectively illuminates how fascinating it can be. My only criticism might be that I found it very difficult to cover the entire text in a one semester class, precisely because it is so rich in information.

Used for a developmental psychology class, this book wasn't worth the $94.00 I paid for it. I could have easily substituted this book for any introductory psychology textbook. Piaget, Kolberg, Erikson, and Freud are hardly touched on and their theories are under-summarized. There is also a lack of relevant, current studies in the area of developmental psychology. Most studies are summarized and do not give any usable, substaintial evidence which could be used elsewhere (ex: in papers).

Bought it for a lifespan developmental course. So far, everything I have covered has been great. Good separation between the different theories and gives a comparison of several in one section (advantages/disadvantages).

This book was ordered for my class. School started 2 weeks ago and book still has not arrived. I am military and have an APO address. For some reason they sent it as International Shipping. An APO address is not International. Yes you have to fill out a customs form but all military mail going to an AOP, AE leaves from New Jersey on a military plane. They did not even provide a track number. This is how they say thank you to someone defending their country while attending school. THANKS.

The book is in great condition...HOWEVER, I was under the impression that the mydevelopmentlab.com access code was coming with the book and it didn't! I bought the book new for that reason and am very upset about it. Now I have to buy the code too!

Being my first purchase (and first textbook purchase at that) on Amazon.com, I found this product immediately and to be exactly what I needed for my summer classes. The seller said the book had slight damage, but it was totally perfect! The pages of content were all intact and my order was shipped in the exact time span I needed. It helped me in my class, and now I know where to get all of my textbooks for the upcoming fall semester!

Im majoring in psych and this book has really helped in understanding and making things clear.

This book is great, is very detailed explaining what every child, teenager, and adolescence go through (the stages) this is a great book to have even if the person is not going to school and has kids, this would help the parent or parents learn what their child is going through. It has helped me plenty in class.

This was an awesome purchase for the price and for the quality. It also came in a timely manner and it was in great condition.
