Commercial jingles meet Lord Radio's sampler,
By Scott "Beat Junkie" (Philadelphia, Pa) - See all my reviews

As a fan of People Under the Stairs and Thes One's production on their albums, I was glad to discover he had put out an instrumental album and had my local record store order it for me the first chance I got.
First, a bit of background. Herb Pilhofer had put out a series of records back in the day for various companies in the form of commercial jingles. Thes One happened to come across one of said records, and after a bit of networking, met up with Herb and proposed an idea which would give birth to this album. Thes was able to acquire the masters to the originals, and crafted an album around samples solely from these jingles, with the exception of the percussion. Ok, so what about the album. Thes does not disappoint, he truly crafted a gem with this one. The album, clocking in at just under 49 minutes, flows like butter. The songs are intricate soundscapes of of Herb's work, chopped, looped, and filtered to Thes' liking. To me, the first half of the album stands out, but the second half is great in its own right. This is a great album, for hip hop fans and music lovers in general. Heck, even my mom likes a few songs! Overall, this is a very impressive collection of beats from a criminally under-rated producer. Two thumbs up.

If you like good sampled music with a jazzy vibe and feel good instramentals, then you should get this Thes One project. I'm writing in this because I think you should buy the albulm already and find out for yourself.
enjoy. PUTS Rocks too!

Thes One delivers great 70's throwback tunes with instrumentals and beats. Very original. Companion CD shows where These One gets the beats - old advertisements - but is more a novelty than something I would listen too. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase, the songs are great - the album just leaves you wanting more.
