Let me start by saying that this basketball goal is a great product once it is put together. It is sturdy and looks good. This goal is hard to beat for the price. The instructions aren't bad either. The hardest part is the height adjusting mechanism which takes some care. It took my wife and I about 4 hours to put the whole thing together so be sure you have enough time before starting. A few of the bolts and nuts fit a little tight but overall fit is good and holes match up pretty well. My three kids ages 9, 11, and 13 all love playing basketball with it and so do I.

I am very happy I took the chance on this basketball backboard unit. It was not very hard to put together at all. The piece were all there and they even put in a few easy to misplace pieces in an extra washer and an extra nut. I built the unit with my little guy and it took us about an 1 hour, just pre-read the directions and get all your pieces and tools in order. It has been up for a couple of days and the base is filled with water rather than sand I did add a bag of sand on top, just in case, to give it a little more weight on the back. Overall it looks and works fantastic and the price is not too bad as it feels pretty sturdy. I would not hang off the rim, but for let kids play basketball it is a big win I give it five stars easily.

The goal is great once it is assembled. The problem is with the instructions. There is a step with an incorrect parts list and a step with an incorrect picture. That is inexcusable for the number of basketball goals that Lifetime must sell. If you take your time and realize your instincts are better than the manufacturer's instructions, it is not that problematic. The assembled goal is great!

This is more a review of Lifetime company than the goal itself, but I like the goal too. I bought this goal second-hand and it was partially disassembled. There were some nuts and bolts missing, and NO model number to be found. (It was supposed to be on a sticker, but that had been removed.)

I called the 800 number imprinted on the goal for technical assistance. Mainly, I just wanted to find a user manual that I could use to reassemble it and identify the missing pieces. The person who answered the phone was an amazing help! She spent at least twenty minutes asking simple, key questions about the goal until she was able to identify the exact model number. Like I said, the number was not there. She identified it by key attributes like the phrasing on the backboard, the number of pieces in the pole, etc. Keep in mind that Lifetime makes thousands of basketball goals. I thought, in the back of my mind, that I would be out of luck. Associates at most other companies would not have gone so far. They would have said, sorry - you're out of luck, or, go purchase a new unit instead.

Within 5 minutes of ending our phone call, the associate emailed me the correct PDF manual and I was off and running.

Later, when I called back to order missing pieces, the parts associate was again very knowledgeable and helpful, and was able to identify all of the parts I needed very quickly.

This is clearly a very professional company that is concerned about customer service. If only more of the companies we deal with (insert your favorite here ____) could learn from their example.

I purchased this product for my kids for Christmas and we have played endless hours of hoops since then. My husband and I put it together in about 2 hours without major problems. This is a sturdy, well made basketball hoop and appears to be able to last many years. I love that it is easily adjustable and stands upright very well when filled with water.

Instructions were not clear. Several nuts did not match bolts well.
