This is a decent, light-weight, basic backboard and rim. The rim is what I would consider a good, standard rim. It does not include "slam" type hardware (spring loaded). It only has the standard, fixed mounting hardware. The backboard is made from plastic with chambered construction to provide strength and support. It is very light-weight and is intended for light, recreational use. I have not had it long, so I'll have to wait and see how well it holds up. I chose this type over the many "clear" backboards because of the complaints about those backboards being very flimsy (not very solid when a ball hits it). This board may be a little better than that, but it is no where near a true glass board or even a plywood board. I bought this for my children's backyard use, ranging from my 12 and 18 year old daughters to my son (occasional use) who is in college. I don't think this will hold up to heavy play or much dunking. I am switching out the rim mounting hardware for the spring loaded slam type, mostly as a safety precaution. If it doesn't hold up I will probably just make my own with plywood and some resin sealant to stand up to the weather.
