It's easy to bungee strap a milk crate on the front and back to have a great, roomy, sturdy fishing platform considering all the rod holders that already come with it.

First of all, know exactly what you are buying. You are buying a FISHING KAYAK, not a touring kayak. I use this as a single person kayak, though it can be used as a tandem.

The kayak is heavy, almost 70 lbs, and it's wide. If you're under 5'9" you are going to have a hard time using the single side carrying handle since the yak is so wide.

Standing up, sitting down and casting are surprisingly easy, though being only 5'5" I have a low center of gravity so it may be easier for me than most.

The features are great. I replaced the seat back with a higher end touring seat and would recommend you do the same if you will be using the yak for more than 2 hours. The yak came with 2 paddles, 2 seat backs and 5 scupper plugs even though there are only 2 scupper holes. The built in tie down points, waterproof rear entry point and fold down paddle clips are invaluable!

There is even a molded hole in the rear of the frame for a future motor mount which I plan on using.

For the $500 I paid, shipped, I couldn't have asked for a more perfect fishing kayak.

After buying and using this boat for a nice long three mile river paddle/fishing trip I can recommend it to anyone looking for a lower priced but high quality and stable fishing kayak. I also highly recommend it to larger people that want to go have fun and not swamp their boat. I'm approx 6 foot and just under three hundred and found the seating area and leg room very nice when set up for one paddler (with the Crazy Creek Kayak III seat and a 240cm paddle). I had the entire rear deck and hull area to store stuff and the front bungees were in perfect range for my dry bag and life jacket.

Being a wide and relatively short kayak you will not be breaking speed records and you may have an issue with tracking at times (side currents or high winds). That said, this is a FISHING/PLEASURE style kayak. Not a long distance fast cruising machine. If you want a sleek fast cruiser, look at a sit in kayak or a touring sit on top kayak and pay the $1000 for it. If you want to fish within a few miles of the launch point or want to go paddle with friends for fun without tossing a grand at it, buy this one.

At a good steady paddle on flat water you can get a nice brisk walking speed out of it. And you won't tucker yourself out doing it. If you really want to make time, you will tire yourself paddling that hard. Once up to speed at a regular paddle it tracks fairly well. Not on rails, but you won't spend all day correcting your path either.

For the reduction in top speed and some tracking you will gain great stability, instant turning whenever you want and a crazy 500lb weight capacity. 500 lbs. Think about that. That's a lot of stuff, or two big people.

Know this, as a sit on top, you're legs will get a little wet as you paddle. It's inevitable as you paddle side to side.

I ordered this for my husband for Fathers Day. I didn't want a 'boat' we had to deal with the licensing; trailer and more licensing; light hook-up; taxes, and more taxes; etc.

This seemed a perfect size that we could lift and maneuver together, and it is. We are in our 50's, so not so strong as we used to be, and we can easily lift this up into our truck camper. It fits in there beautifully when we take the table down to make a bed, and lift the nose of the Kayak into the over cab bed. Takes us about 30 seconds to load and a minute to unload. Initially I had planned on staying inside the camper while he went out to fish, but felt well enough to at least try it with him for an hour or so.

We ventured out to a quiet, empty, glass still lake to try it for the first time. I will say it takes a little bit of finesse to get 'on' and 'off' , but it is made extremely well balanced and we did not get dumped into the lake. I think if we find a boat dock to use it will make it easier on our non-limber bones. Anyway, once we got out and began our adventure we did TRY to tip this over and we gave it quite a rocking and I'm pleased to tell you it didn't spill us. ( For the Ladies, I went out in a dress too, and paddled Hubby all across the lake while he fished. It was plenty comfortable to wear a skirt or dress in!!! ) We were amazed with how comfortable this is. We did not have cushions, or padding of any sort, didn't even use the seat backs that came with it, but we stayed out our first time for 4 hours. I have back pain, Husband bad hips, and neither of us had any discomfort during, or after. Just looked a bit silly getting in and out. :)

I have to say, this was one of the best purchases I have made in a long time.

I bought the Dragonfly Sport Fisher Kayak about 3 yrs ago to fish out of. Since you stay so dry in this kayak, I was able to fish all winter. I am 5'10" and 190lbs and I had plenty of room when using it as a single. The paddles that come with it are too short in my opinion. The kayak is wide and it seemed I was not able to get a good bite in the water with a natural stroke. So, I bought a longer paddle and the problem was solved. The layout and stability of this kayak awesome. I used this kayak in the Gulf of Mexico earlier this year and it handled some pretty good size waves with ease, and I still didn't get wet. When paddling this kayak by yourself, it moves along pretty well, but add a 2nd person and that changes. With a weight capacity of 500lbs, it will hold two people and gear with ease, but if your paddling hard trying to stay up with other people you tend to get out of rythm, and end up banging paddles alot. The second down side is this kayak is not fast enough to stay up with most other tandem kayaks. I Went on a trip with my brother and we couldn't even come close to staying up with him. My wife and I were in the Dragonfly and my brother was in his Ocean Malibu II XL, with most of the gear and two children. He was the only one paddling in his yak. So, if you want to do a day trip or longer with other people, you will probably struggle to keep up. But, if you purely want a fishing kayak then I would buy it. I sold mine this year and bought a bigger tandem and I have kicked myself every time I've gone fishing for getting rid of my Dragonfly. I should have kept the Dragonfly and bought a touring yak.
