Book Description

Southern Recipes: From A Mother's Kitchen To Yours

Every year our family would grow this large garden behind our home. A 50-by-30 yard garden seems immense when you are a kid. By the time it hit the kitchen table, it was “ummhh & awnn (using a country style Mayberry, USA – Andy Griffith dialect). “This is the best I ever put in my mouth!” After several years of that repetition, my sister and I would just look at each other and bust into a gut-wrenching laugh.

All those fine, home-grown ingredients are what went into my mother’s cooking to help it become so infamous. And those same homemade southern recipes are being passed down to you today.

Bernice G. Craddock focused her entire life on being a great wife, mother, and homemaker. At 78 years young, she decided to write her own southern cookbook. Her greatest challenge was narrowing it down to her 500 “most favourite” recipes.

Inside her collection, you will be able to enjoy popular southern recipes like:

Chicken Corn Soup
Clam Chowder
Casserole recipes
Sweet Potato Souffle
Sweet N' Sour Chicken & a variety of chicken recipes
Gingered Pork
Biscuit Recipes

And 400+ more salad, appetizer, main course, beverage and dessert recipes for you to share with your family.

Pick up A Lifetime Of Secret Recipes: 500 Southern Recipes From A Mother's Kitchen and begin sharing the best collection of southern cooking with your family.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly awesome comprehensive cookbook November 4, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Author Bernice G. Craddock's A Lifetime of Secret Recipes is an absolutely amazing and awesome cookbook. Her cookbook starts out with a forward by her son, Jonathan R. Craddock, telling about how his mother carefully chose some of her recipe favorites for her cookbook. Bernice spent a lifetime of cooking 8-course meals for dinner and 5 to 6 courses for breakfast was not unusual for his mother Bernice. His mother lived to be 88 and went home to be with her Lord and her husband.

Inside her comprehensive cookbook you will find plenty of recipes. Some of those recipes include:

Punch (orange juice, lemonade, pineapple juice and ginger ale make up some of the ingredients)
Marinated Mushrooms
Fruit Cocktail Salad
Cole Slaw
Buttermilk Jell-O
Chicken Salad
Hash Brown Potato Casserole
Oven Fried Potatoes
Apple-Cheese Casserole
Copper Dollars
Meat and Rice Casserole
Chicken Hash
Crock Pot Chuck Roast
Smoked Ham Baked
Country Biscuits
Foam Style Corn Bread
Spoon Bread
Mama's Red Velvet Cake
Mama's Fresh Coconut Cake
No-Bake Fruit Cake
Sweet Potato Pie
Peanut Butter Pie
Snowballs
Fried Apples
Cucumber Pickles (No canning directions listed with recipe. Recipe says "...seal jars."

There is an interactive table of contents making navigation easy.

Recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars old recipes to love October 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I enjoy finding old recipes that I grew up on. Especially since my mother died before she could ever teach me how to cook and only a few recipes of hers to hang on to. Thanks and good luck.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delicious Recipes! September 25, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
By Joyce Frampton
This book is great and contains hundreds of delicious, yet easy to cook recipes
which I have tried many times. Bernice was a wonderful cook and had a great
reputation for delicious recipes to all who knew her.
The great thing about her book is that the ingredients in most all of the recipes
are items that we would have in our pantry or refrigerator and are not difficult to
keep in stock. One of my favorites is the fruit cobbler, which I make often, using
blackberries or peaches.
This recipe book should be in everyone's kitchen and you will receive many
compliments from trying these delicious dishes.

This book is wonderful. You don't have to be a gourmet cook to make these recipes but the food will taste like you are. The book introduces great home cooking recipes that can easily be fixed for a family. Most of us have these ingredients on hand anyway which makes it so easy to whip up a meal anytime. I highly recommend that everyone have a copy of this book in their kitchen.
