This cold pack keeps my insulated box cool.

Unfortunately, the bulges weaken the plastic, and it wasn't long until the plastic broke allowing the liquid to leak out.

I ordered three of these, but I wish I had only ordered one now.

This is a pretty hefty size, bigger than I want for a lunch bag. It's 3 3/8" x 6 ¾" x 1 3/8" when not frozen -- good for a 12 pack cooler. We use it with our other ice packs in a large ice chest when we're camping. Works well, doesn't break or leak.

I've had several of Lifoam's Freezpak reusable ice packs, both the hard case and bag ones. the first ones I bought in the spring of 2012 thinking they'd be fantastic to have, and at first they were. It didn't take long though for the bag ones to develop some holes in them after a few uses and then oh so pleasantly coat the inside of my lunch bag with that disgusting gel. Boy was it fun figuring out how to clean that craop offand get rid of the chemical odor. After that I figured I'd just stick with the hardshelled ones and then I'd be fine... WRONGO!!! As others described the hard packs developed bulges that stretched and ruptured the outer shell in multiple places resulting in several more lengthy sessions of stinky gloop removal. I bought one more Freezpak a few weeks ago thinking I had gotten a bad batch the year and should probably try them again(Slow Learner, This One Is.) a few days a go after a handful of uses in my lunch cooler the hard pack developed a rupture behind the sticker and began to ooze everywhere. I took that one back to the store and told them I never wished to see one ever again after getting my refund.

It is worth noting that a number of other reusable ice packs I have have been going strong for years most notably a couple of Rubbermaids that are over a decade old now and have no leaks whatsoever.

In short, don't waste your money on this brand at all, they were made to compete with Rubbermaid's products at a bargain and unsurprisingly you get extra low bargain quality.

I bought these without thinking I needed to research them, but they are doing the same thing that others are reporting. On first freeze they are both expanding in one spot as if an ice cube formed first and the edge is pushing on the plastic. I have old ice pack of the same size that has been through 100's of cycles and it's still going. Don't know that I can return them, but will be doing just that or throwing them away. I don't recommend these at all.

Edit: I still have them, but was trying some ideas, so I let one thaw out and tried to mix it up a bit by shaking it and then placed in the freezer laying flat, that didn't work either it pushed up in the middle as it had done before when it was standing up. The product is a POS.

Edit: July 2013, these where returned... Not what I expected and very dissappointed. Amazon A++++, returned with no hassle.

Very disappointed! we put the packs in the freezer after receiving them and had a look at it a few days later and saw a bulge a the base of one that has pushed out the plastic and clearly stretched. Anymore and it wud have ripped the plastic even before the first use. we don't used these as often so it wont go thru those many cycles of freeze and unfreeze... but by the look of it, it might not last for more than 5 or 6 cycles. We bought a set of Cool Coolers Lunch Ice Packs - Set Of 4, which were also put into the freezer at the same time and those seem to be freezing proper. Should have bought more of those instead.

I bought six of these on sale at the grocery store thinking they would be great for the lunch box. The first couple of times I froze them they worked great. Then they all started to get bulges in the sides. The bulges happen because the liquid inside doesn't freeze evenly, so a spot starts to expand and push against the plastic side of the pak. Unfortunately, the bulges weaken the plastic, and it wasn't long until the plastic broke allowing the liquid to leak out. If it only happened to one, I would not be that bothered, but it happened to all of them. Steer clear of this brand.

I was hoping this would keep my sack lunches cold, but it does not do that very well. It also tends to get bulges in it when you put it in the freezer. The bulges are so big that they almost push through the week plastic casing. I ordered three of these, but I wish I had only ordered one now. I would buy something from another seller next time.

Very utilitarian. I needed something to keep my lunch cool while I went to the office, where the food goes in the fridge. This is so much better than the bubble type ice packs - they have a tendency to puncture and fall apart.
