Shannon Noll's voice and music combine to lift ones spirits in this fun album. A friend from Australia recommended this to me when I was feeling down, and sure enough, listening to it buoyed me up. "Shine" is my favorite track and is on my PlayList. Prepare to have a G'Day, Mate!

this is an fantastic effort on Shannon's part... co-writing 11 of the 13 tracks on this album is not something to be sneezed at hehe, it's truly hard for me to pick a fav... and i have actually listened to all the songs from this album not just the ones released as singles... do i sound suspicious of some reviewer? hmm... well i am lmao
give it away... down on me... losing it all... all i want is more... this is it ... letter to you... before we say goodbye ... the list of fabulous & varied styles of songs goes on & on... these are but a few i highly recommend this album to anyone who is interested in contempory adult soft rock/pop/rock you only live once... so grab yourself a copy

A Strong Follow Up,
By Fjireland "fjireland" (ireland) - See all my reviews

Shannon's Debut That's What I'm Talking About was a strong one and this had a lot to live up to. This doesn't see Shannon do anything drastic ... it's really more of the same, just what I personally had hoped for. He carved out a comfort zone for himself with his debut and he continues to explore it here. Soft rock anthems about love are the order of the day here. It's mature pop, radio friendly stuff really. Shannon didn't sell out and look for hip producers to create pop hits for him. He followed his heart and his love for organic instrument-led music and good on him. This is full of uplifting catchy guitar led songs - stand outs are Lift, Shine (which sounds like the killers early stuff) Lonely and Now I Run. A stronger follow up to a strong debut. This tops That's I'm Talking About (for me anyway). Great driving music, catchy and anthemic, the sort that gets stuck in your head for days.

FINE SECOND ALBUM FOR SHANNON,
By Michael Sassella (CANBERRA, Australian Capital Territory, Australia) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)

This album has spawned three top selling singles so far for Shannon in Australia and he richly deserves his success. He has lifted his game since the very good first album, THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT. One of the best songs on that album was the last song, "The Way That I Feel", the only song composed by Shannon. On LIFT Shannon has had a hand in writing 11 of the 13 tracks. The result is a more cohesive, more consistent album.
Shannon presents the material here with more variety of light and shade and with greater ebullience than he has done before. A track like "Shine", the first and quite enormous single, is absolutely irresistible in it infectiousness; a terrific song. Then there is the powerful and poignant "Lift", a totally different but meaningful song. He is scoring well at present with the touching and quite mature ballad, "Now I Run". This is a delightful and not overly sentimental tribute to his deceased father. However, it is the generally high quality of the songwriting and the better judged musical arrangements and backings that really impress with this album. Sony BMG are clearly putting a lot into Shannon's career. The art work and photography on this album and on the singles that have come from it have been first rate. Also excellent are the videos that have been produced to promote the singles. Shannon is delivering the goods for Sony and they are right to have faith in him. We are fortunate to have Shannon in Australia where he is greatly appreciated. He is a fun live performer too who knows how to present a really good, entertaining show.

Let me start by saying that it is a shame his music has not sound more in the US, just listen to the best songs in this album "Lift", "Shine" and " Now I run" this last song was one he composed in memory of his father whi died a couple of years ago in an accident in his farm in New South Wales. This bloke was second from the Australian Idol Contest (the aussie version of American idol) but so far he has been the best one of them all. Also it is nice to see one artist that can still remain a nice bloke and not thinking he is super famous and start acting like many others that only have half his talent.
In summary, very good artist, excellent music and better person. I highly recommend it, just listen to those andy of the songs on the cd and you 'll know what I am talking about

I was traveling from the US to New Zealand on an Air New Zealand flight listening to the in-flight music and heard Lift by Shannon Noll. The song instantly became my favorite song. When I got back home in to North Carolina, I started searching for Shannon Noll (I of course thought his last name was spelled Knoll making him a little harder to find). I finally found him on the web and found he was in Australia which is why I hadn't heard of him before. Even more interesting is he started his career by being the winner on a television show in Australia called Australian Idol (winner of the first season) which is Simon Fuller's Australian version of his American Idol show. So, I guess he is to Australia and New Zealand as Kelly Clarkson is to us here in the US. I am convinced that if you buy his album, Lift will become YOUR favorite song too. I'm amazed that his music isn't played on radio in the US or sold in stores here.

I cannot believe that there are 7 good reviews on this guy. He cannot sing...... he screeches. To say is the 'best' is the biggest overstatement I have heard in a very long time.
I am tired of hearing his screeching winey voice on the airwaves of australian radio. I hope he doesn't impose himself on the Americans ...... beware!

I am a huge fan of anything overseas. Ireland, Scotland, UK and of course, Australia. So it's no surprise to me to see another artist come out with talent and good looks to boot! Shannon delivers on both albums. Lift has to be one of my absolute favorite cd's right now. There's NO tracks to skip over and no fillers. Way to go Nolls!
This album is a must buy for any music lover. Even if your not a fan of this genre, it's definately worth a listen :) |
