A Joyful Sound,
By
This review is from: Lift Up the Lord (Audio CD)
This 1982 album features the joyful mix of praise and reflection that became a Gospel trademark for Sandi Patty in the 1980's. Of special interest on this album is the longer version of "Yes, God is Real" and a gorgeous praise chorus, "Jesus, Lord to Me." And the spirit of the resurrection finds a thrilling voice in "They Could Not." Songs for the Journey

This review is from: Lift Up the Lord (Audio CD)
This is Sandi's Third release. Under New Producer Greg Nelson. Her First Two albums "Sandi's Song", and "Love Overflowing", took us on a beautiful yet learning journey, and the songwriting and production on every single song was almost flawless. Lift up the Lord starts her on the road of cementing her musicality, which are fantastic, culminating whith "Jesus, Lord to me." . The last four songs, had to grow on me. For an artist of Sandi's caliber this was her first real bold album not just relying on her extremly great voice. This album still is very good. The first five songs alone are worthy of getting the album. "Jesus, Lord to me" is one of the most underrated songs she's ever recorded. The B side has some lighter fair that easier to sing along with. THe main key to this album being so wonderful is the focus on the vertical relationship. It doesn't stop to focus on Sandi, it just keeps on Lifting up the Lord.
