4.0 out of 5 stars Lift Log:Diary and Guide for Strength Training
I think this is an excellent book to carry around the gym as you work out. It has a bit of warm-up and stretching exercises, nutrition, anatomy, and basic suggestions for organizing workouts, and how to use the book. There are also worksheets for body measurements and progressions. The diary itself is set up very simply to allow you to keep track in your own way...

I can't believe anybody likes this piece of crap. It's too small, the photographs are amateurish, the pithy little inspirational sayings are pedantic, the diet and exercise advice is useless to anyone other than a total novice and the format is horrible. Worst money I ever spent. After I got it I threw it away and made a better workout log using Microsoft Works.

The only negative thing that I can see is the pictures of the women -- they are more like "cheesecake" than actual bodybuilders. I can't believe that anyone could lift weights in a thong!

I have used this same journal for five years now - this will bemy fourth copy, and my first time to order it from ...(the website). I have found it very helpful in keeping track of my regimen and my progress. It has a very simple format and is small enough to be inconspicuous in the weight room. There is ample room for notes. The format is not too restricting, which allows flexibility with what I am doing - not conforming me to what the journal expects of me. I like this feature a lot. The pictures in the book are motivating, but I largely ignore them. I know my own goals and the book helps me move towards those. I would highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a simple way of keeping track of strength and body building progress.

very good log that I use everday to track my progress in the gym. Its nothing special, just a log with plenty of room for entering exercises and has a pretty good section in the front for beginners looking for tips. It has enough room to write down your weight and reps from your last session and what you did for the day, very helpful to ensure you are making progress.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best log book / planner for the weight room, July 20, 2010

The freedom to fill in your work out routine in your own style, make changes from day to day and the easy to use format, make this book tops in the world of workout log books. And, better than a "I have an ap for that", it never goes bad from being dropped or other mis-use and will be there next year when you do your yearly progress review....nice low tech solution that just plain works. Hope they go back into print.

I have used the previous version of the Liftlog for years. Simple easy format with plenty of room. Just because there are several lines for exercises doesn't mean they can't be use for anything else like resting heart rate, weight, diet, etc. As to the most negative reviewers comments motivation comes from within not from pictures or what someone tells you. The motivation has to be realistic. I guess if you get off on all kinds of fancy boxes to check off for how many reps you did this isn't the guide for you. It could be made better by the use of a more durable cover such as plastic. If you like flipping back and forth between pages to track your progress.

2.0 out of 5 stars not that great, January 29, 2007

limited flexibility for those who lift

I don't find the 14 day review sections useful.

Only has space for 4 sets of exercises. Joe Oliver's log is much better
