I really wanted to like this, having heard so much hype about it recently. I found it just a tad too esoteric for my tastes. Probably if I had been "in the life" back when she wrote this, I may have found a lot more of what she wrote edifying rather than just plain too oblique for my tastes! If I have to stretch too far to understand what is being written, my mind tends to wander I have to ask myself if what reviewers have said about this piece really is true as much as their attempts to find some sort of justification, through much stretching, to bring some sort of understanding to what she wrote.
With all of that having been said, I'm sure Alice loved her very much! |
