A perfect introduction,

If you are not familiar with David Icke or Jon Rappoport, do a web search on them. What you will find will either turn you off or light a fire of curiosity that will burn with the intensity of Truth. This book is a good place to glean the basic concepts of Icke's philosophy, as Rappoport conducts the interview. Rappoport is an impressive author in his own right, which other reviewers didn't comment on for some reason. At a time when what passes for "journalism" in this country isn't worth the time it takes to turn on the TV, Rappoport asks the hard questions and does the dirty digging to get to the bottom of issues that we just don't look at hard enough. His willingness to give Icke credibility says a lot. Yes, Icke does some reaching, but we underestimate the potential of technology and its roots to our own detriment. Approach this book with an open mind, and don't make it the last one you read on the subject. Amazon.com will refer you to many other similar authors who have been investigating in the same vein. When you decide to stop seeking, it will be because you no longer want to know -- not because it isn't true. It's not a pretty picture, but it is only by looking at it clearly that we will be able to do anything about it at all.

Fascinating issues though sometimes far fetched,
By A Customer
This review is from: Lifting the Veil (Perfect Paperback)
While I do not yet buy Icke's grand conspiratorial theme, I feel he is raising legitimate questions which are all but ignored by mainstream media. Another reviewer is annoyed because it's not clear if Icke is conservative or liberal. That's exactly the point! Conventional liberal vs conservative political viewpoints are becoming more and more irrelevant in terms of meaningful differences or practical solutions. Not only are the political parties merging in the middle but neither are asking the key questions. Both parties have divided up the support of major lobbying groups/$$ and still have some differences of opinion, but neither are focused on the fundamental injustices and problems facing the world. While I do not agree with Icke that the global elite are necessarily in conspiratorial league with each other to enslave the population, I do believe that mainstream media and educational bodies do not pay enough attention to the role played by these powerful individual/corporations in influencing the outbreak of war and other misfortunes in the world. Give this book a try and come to your own conclusions.

no smoke without a fire,

if only 5% of what icke says is true ,and some of it probably is, then this is a serious wake up call for all of us. looking back at kosovo , bosnia , irak and east timor , it seems that icke has in fact hit a basic truth. a lot of what he says is hard to accept, however what makes it so hard to accept is the incessant media conditioning and the official version of reality imposed on us even before birth by how tv and pop psychology and other hollywoodian mythologies affect our parents and then us. By the time we are grown ups most of us have swallowed hollywoodianism and consumerism hook ,line and sinker.

HEGELIAN TRAP,
By A Customer
This review is from: Lifting the Veil (Perfect Paperback)
99% of people fall for this hegelian trap: "left" or "right";democrat or republican, capitalist or communist; it's irrelevant, the power elite plays both sides to achieve their goals,e.g.: just go out and do your own research on the story of creation of The Federal Reserve System, you will see how the power brokers fooled congress. Don't be a victim of this "left" or "right" trap.

Not sure what to make of all this!,

This review is from: Lifting the Veil (Perfect Paperback)
This is the first David Ike book that I've read. I must say that some things ring very true and I will read more of his books to get the bigger picture. On the other hand some of it is really out there. I'm keeping an open mind and I'll see what opinions I develop after more in depth reading. I do think that this book is a good investment if you are on the fence about finding out more about the authors ideas. This is a quick and easy read. Also inexpensive compared to some of other books. I've passed my copy on to friends, it definately is food for thought and interesting conversation.

Intellectual Disintegration is at our forefront,
By A Customer
This review is from: Lifting the Veil (Perfect Paperback)
The fact that people buy books by David Icke is absolutely ridiculous. I have not been able determine if the author is Conservative or Liberal. My most likely guess is Insane. Books like this just prove the fact that maybe "A Nation At Risk" was close to correct. The secret order of the human-robots on not upon us, despite what you would like to think Mr. Icke. His views that Bush and Clinton are allies, and we are merely pawns in the "elites" game of global domination just DOES NOT fit. Despite the fact that the Republicans and Democrats have different social goals and defensive polcies, they still agree that they will dominate the world, despite partisan differences. Another thing, apparently the expansion of NAFTA is a plan to break up Canada. Apparently the goal of Hitler was not to create The Third Reich, but was to destroy Canda! Yes, Canada's hegemony is too great, we must stop it! At least, that's what the elite want you to think. Apparently the first and second world wars were just minipulations. Yes, there wasn't anything like the Treaty of Versailles or the War Guilt clause that caused WWII, it was the rulers of the world. Frankly, David Icke scares me, although it is rather comical to consider the fact that he spends time writing this trash. It just proves the intellectual fall of America, and the rest of the world.
