Lifting the Veil, Practical Kabbalah with Kundalini Yoga,
By Theone Bradford (New Orleans, Louisiana) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lifting The Veil, Practical Kabbalah with Kundalini Yoga (Paperback)
Lifting the Veil is the work of a master not yet known to most of the world. This book was my introduction to Gurunam's work and since then, I have read everything he has published. As a widely read & practiced Kabbalist and professor of mathematics, I very much appreciated the structure of this book. It gives the beginning reader a working knowledge of Kabbalah adn Kundalini yoga without confusing people with strings of concepts that, whle very interesting, are utterly useless in real life. Simultaneously, it offers long time students of Kabbalah or Kundalini yoga useful concepts that are found in no other sources, such as a person's Primary Planet adn the significance of the seven days of the week. After consistent use of many of the principles and mantras, I have found them to be the most effective and accurate of any system I have used. Additionally, an individual will learn to chose, with precision, the mantra or meditation they should use without having to always consult with a spiritual teacher. Gurunam's books are very empowering for a person's everyday life and decisions. Coming from a Jewish background, I appreciated his sincere respect for all religions, cultures and spiritual practices. The historical background presented in the beginning of the book gives credit to the many cultures who have used and expanded upon this knowledge. His universal style would be agreeable to anyone who sincerely wishes to learn the sacred science free from favoritism of a specific religion while still gaining an appreciation for the lineage of the various practices and schools of thought. Lets face it and be grateful for the fact that many cultures adn religions have made their valuable contributions to Kabbalah. After reading Lifting the Veil, I would recommend purchasing his CD's RA MA DA SA & TRIPLE MANTRA, reading ALCHEMY OF LOVE RELATIONSHIPS and taking the Correspondence Course, which teaches an in depth knowledge of other topics such as Numerology, Tarot and Alchemy.

Lifting the Veil, Practical Kabbalah with Kundalini Yoga,
By Delilah Joy (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lifting The Veil, Practical Kabbalah with Kundalini Yoga (Paperback)
Gurunam is the first author on Kabbalah, who's philosophy resonates with mine, that of love. I have studied Kabbalah for many years and, while the information may be a common thread, the heart behind the message makes all the difference to the reciever. He is not only extremely knowledgable, but he leads the reader in the direction of the light path. This is not always so in other books. Each time I read it, I come to new realizations. Layers of my consciousness become clearer. I am making real progress with my life; which is the ultimate goal of Kabbalah. It is as if it was written in code, so that with each review, the mind and heart is touched on a new level. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to actually work on improving their life. It is a practical book that requires active participation rather than just passive reading. This book is a key to unlocking the knowledge that already exists with each of us.

Not Enough Kabbalah,
By A Customer
This review is from: Lifting The Veil, Practical Kabbalah with Kundalini Yoga (Paperback)
I must admit, the introduction to Kundalini and Kabbalah are, in this book, spectacular. Kundalini is a subject that is taught well in this book, however, there is only one Kabbalist ritual in the whole book. I do not recommend buying this book, especially as an "end all" guide.

Mama always said that if you're going to criticize someone, start first with a compliment. Okay, here's my compliment ... NICE COVER! Seriously, I gave LIFTING THE VEIL two stars instead of one because, in spite of the criticisms that I will make below, several pearls of wisdom did manage to emerge from the chaos in which they are buried. For that reason only, I will say that the book was not a TOTAL waste of my time.LIFTING THE VEIL promises to provide a practical, workable and understandable marriage of Kabbalah and Kundalini. What it delivers instead, is a jumbled hodge-podge of associations, more illustrative of the author's powers of free association than of a workable schema. The author presupposes a working knowlege, not only of Kabbalah and Kundalini, but also of Gematria, Palmistry, Astrology, Tarot and Alchemy. My point being, if you have all of that, you don't need this book. If you want a good understanding of Kabbalah, I would suggest that you read MYSTICAL QABALAH by the incomparable Dion Fortune. If you want to understand Kundalini, I would highly recommend KUNDALINI AWAKENING by John Selby. But until someone else does a supperior job in marrying these themes into a coherent framework that assists in understanding the many complex relationships, your own intuition will serve you much better than reading LIFTING THE VEIL. And while it may be an idiosyncratic pet peeve of mine, I am sure that many other people will share this next criticism. The author relies too heavily on the teachings and meditations of Yogi Bhajan. While Yogi Bhajan is undoubtedly a spiritual Master, the author applies his teachings as "Bhajanism" -- more as a dogma than as one of many spiritual options. He fails to recognize that, even though there is one Universal Truth, there are many paths to it. Guru-ism is in direct opposition to the author's own point that sprititual awakening is egoless.

Not a good book. This guy has some strange ideas about what Kabbalah is. Although he's clearly Jewish, he seems to be strongly influenced by some form of Christian tradition. Either way, it made me feel a bit sick because of the way he was writing and I had to put the book down after a couple of chapters. Great title though - that made me buy it, and I'm glad I did to at least see what it was about. I'll get back to reading the rest of it at some point..

Like all of Gurunam's books, this one is full of great information, I refer to all of his books all the time, and have found them great teachers in themselves, and wholly inspiring.
I am grateful to Gurunam for making this information available to all, and in such a readeable manner.

Lifting The Veil offers some very helpful and insightful information, allowing the reader to better align their daily lives and live in greater universal harmony. I have been a practitioner of Kundalini Yoga for many years and can attest to the powerful changes it can bring. Included in the book are some meditations that I was not familiar with through my previous Kundalini Yoga practices and they have already proven to be quite helpful in many ways.
