To verify this remote works with your unit, press the learn button on your overhead unit (remove the plastic light cover on the back side and look for a square button - mine is red). When you press the button the led light will light up. If yours is yellow, then this remote will work for you. I would suggest you immediately unplug and re-plug in your garage door opener to cancel the "learn" mode so that on the off chance that a neighbor is opening their garage door your door opener won't "learn" their code and start opening when they push their remote... but anyway...

Setup is as simple as that, press the learn button, then press the remote button. The unit will click and flash to let you know it is learned. Now the remote will work.

The remote also comes with battery and clip to mount to your car visor.

It couldnt have been easier:

-Press learn button...Look for light.

Bam, light is on!

-Hold the clicker within 30 seconds.

Held it.

-Listen for click, done.

It clicked, instantly. Done deal. Literally 12-15 seconds

I went to Home Depot to buy a new garage door opener. It was $35.00 and I didn't even know if it would work. I did not buy it. I came home and ordered this one on line for less than $15.00 and it works perfect. What a great savings.
Thank You

With retail outlets selling a single garage door opener for $30 or more, why pay three times the cost? I am the second owner of a home that was built in 1994 and the two garage door openers that came with the house when I bought it are falling apart. One of them does not work all the time. The other one still works. Luckily for me, one of them had a model number that was legible on the back (the other one is so faded it's hard to tell). I ordered three of these from Amazon and batteries are included! They all worked as soon as they were programmed. No complaints!

1. Look at the model number in the back of your opener.
2. Go to Amazon to find your exact model.
3. Order a few and retire your old ones.
4. If you're like me, programming is as simple as hitting the "red" button, holding down the garage door opener button, and waiting for the light to blink. As soon as it blinks, it's good to go!

Thanks Amazon! You saved me $60 since I ordered 3 of them!

Suggests it will work for any opener with a red learn button, even Craftsman -- not the case. My Craftsman opener made in 2000 has a red learn button, but that does NOT made it a Security+ unit for which a 97xLM series will work. For purposes of a new remote, one must treat it like a Chamberlain or Genie unit vintage '93-'96 that has a GREEN learn button. Thus, buy either an 81LM series remote or a universal like the 375LM. If you buy the 375LM, program per instructions but with 4 button presses, not 2; also, must press and immediately release (not hold) the button following each of the 4 presses (375LM instructions are also vague on this point).

One of our two "Security+" remotes died after 13 years of service. A new battery didn't help to revive it.

I checked a few products on Amazon and this one had a good list of positive reviews, but it also had the lowest price. Even with the minimal shipping charges, it was well less than the "universal" remotes at the local home building stores.

I ordered this opener late on a Tuesday night. It was in my mailbox on Saturday.

I opened the package, removed the remote, and attached the supplied mounting clip. I used a small step stool to reach up to the back of the Lift Master and press the square orange button on the back of the unit ... the small LED adjacent to the button illuminated on the opener. I pressed the button of the new remote and the main lights of the Lift Master dimmed briefly, and the LED went off. I then pressed the button on the remote again and the garage door opened. I mounted the remote in the car on a visor. Total time was less than two minutes from package to car.

This remote is working great. The range of the remote is very good, able to operate the door from about a house away. An existing second remote in the other car continues to work properly, it didn't have to be touched.

I would recommend this product (and seller) to anyone with an existing "Security+" opener.

Ordered this as a replacement for a broken unit. Ordered on Friday night and received the new one in Monday's mail delivery. Fast service!!! Since the unit was a direct replacement programming was exactly as documented - no problems. Thanks for the quick delivery!
