It's good, it's Gouryella,

Over the past few years we've heard of some of Gouryella's singles like "Tenshi", "Walhalla" & the song "Gouryella" (produced by Ferry Corsten & DJ Tiesto). Gouryella's new single "Ligaya" contains mixes by Green Court & Ferry Corsten plus a video clip. Vocals are included in tracks 1-3 by singer Patty. I really like the vocals. But I also like Corsten's mix which is featured on "That Trance Mix 2". Not a bad single at all. It's just as good as Gouryella's past singles. Now everytime when Gouryella comes out with a new single, it's something I gotta hear.

One of the best singles of 2003.,

"This is the first day of my life / For once I'm sure / That this is where I long to be / No need to know / If there is something more than this / No need to go / Cause there is nothing more than this / My future is so clear / Cause everything's right here / Inside of me / Inside of me".
A trance song with uplifting vocals and sound. Not your bland, mainstream typical sounds or vocals, but something so much more. Gouryella ("Tenshi", "Walhalla", "Gouryella") was comprised originally of Tijs Fierman (DJ Tiesto) and Ferry Corsten. Ferry Corsten keeps the Gouryella name going, and collaborated with John Ewbank for another amazing Gouryella single. 001. Radio Vocal Edit [3:33] ***** Short at only 3 minutes and a half, this song does more than what other songs can do in 10. Beautiful dramatic melody that can be guaranteed by Gouryella, with beautiful vocals. It's great to hear the same sound over the years of ever-changing artists. One of the best singles of 2003. 002. Extended Vocal Version [7:25] ***** The longer version that was cut out of the radio edit. The intro into the radio edit of this song is 3 minutes long. This isn't boring to listen to, as it is great because it help builds up the excitement to the main vocals of the song. 003. Green Court Remix [9:09] **** The trance beat is evident and strong starting off the song. The vocals in this song are very different from the radio edit/ extended mix... it sounds more original and un-edited. The song also features a group of strings with the melody of "Ligaya". Following is a very rough, heavy synth melody of "Ligaya". The beat is also stronger and louder than the radio edit. 004. Ferry Corsten Remix [9:09] **** The trance master makes the song his own in this remix. With an intro and synth reminiscent of Binary Finary's "1998" and Gouryella's self-titled single "Gouryella", makes you feel like you are traveling through a tunnel of sound... the occasional rushing sound and high-pitched synth. It goes into strings of the melody of "Ligaya", which goes into the synth from the radio edit with the intro beat. The synth and beat sounded odd together. No vocals are used on this remix, which was a shame. 005. Hiver & Hammer Remix [8:41] ***** Hiver & Hammer make great, original trance remixes, and their mix of "Ligaya" is no exception. With a 3 minute intro that builds up to strings of the melody, a synth fades in to bring the listener to the main part of the show. Great head-bobbing beat, the beat different from the radio edit, keeping the trance aspect going. Even though there is no vocals, it is good on its own. Best remix on the album. I noticed one major thing with this single, none of the re-mixes used their own melodies to replace the original melody of "Ligaya", it's that good. I found myself playing this over and over again. A song that stays fresh from the first play, to the 100th time. Included on this enhanced CD is the music video for "Ligaya". Unlike other mediocre electronic music videos, this video is over-flowing with originality and innovative creativity. A look into the future of technology and of life, this further makes one wonder about the lyrics of this song. The music video states a thoughtful statement: "We're machines, just like everything else in nature." *For people who want to listen to something harder or even housier, I recommend the Yoji Biomechanika mix of Ligaya as well.

One of the greatest trance anthems... ever,

I think this is one of the greatest trance songs ever... I much prefer it to the old standards like "Cafe del Mar" by Energy 52 and "Xpander" by Sasha, because it's much more expressive and uplifting. The lyrics are wonderful and inspiring, and the harmonies and musical textures are delicious. I also love the instrumental version. I don't care much for the remixes -- I like the original version the best.

If I had 100 stars more in the rating box I'd give Ligaya all of them.
I feel 100% confident when I say that this is the most beautiful single I have ever heard in my life, the lyrics are simply my inspiration for everyday morning and the melody is easily a great piece of classical music. But I wouldn't expect anything else coming from such a great team DJ Tiesto and Ferry Corsten made in Gouryella!!! I only wish this CD wasn't so hard to get nowadays :(

Definitely one of the best Ferry Corsten has done yet,

Gouryella, the moniker under which the highly respected duo of DJ Tiesto and Ferry Corsten go under, has long been regarded as one of the spinners of the best trance music out there. Although they only rarely release singles, their tracks such as "Walhalla" and "Tenshi" have been highly acclaimed and very well receieved, and rightly so. Now that DJ Tiesto has left the group, there had been doubts over whether Ferry Corsten alone could produce the same quality as that of their previous works.Gouryella's newest release, Ligaya, dispels all these doubts. It is surely one of the best, if not the best, that trance has to offer. The Original Mix (7:21) is, in my opinion, the best track on the disc. Fantastic buildup, great bassline, and most of all an unique and breathtaking melody that comes in round the 3/4 minute mark and smacks you in the head. Signature Ferry Corsten. The Original Vocal Mix isnt too bad either, but the vocals are difficult to make out, obscure the music clarity and overall dont do much for the track. It completely pales in comparision to the purely instrumental original. All in all, this is great uplifting music. You'll find yourself playing it again and again. |
