Ligeti is one of the most important composers of the last half-century. This disk collects four of his works. Of particular note are the beautiful 10 Pieces for Wind Quintet, performed by the Vienna Wind Soloists. The London Sinfonietta perform the Chamber Concerto, Melodien and the Double Concerto at their customary high standard, under the direction of David Atherton. This is requisite Ligeti. Although all four of these works appear on Clear Or Cloudy, only the 10 Pieces and Melodien are these performances.
