A good but basic book on light aircraft, March 31, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: ABC Light Aircraft Recognition (Paperback)
The main problem with doing a book on light aircraft is there are many thousands of different types of light aircraft to choose from. As this is supposed to be a pocket guide, the author has only concentrated on the main types of light aircraft. However these will make up over 95% of the light aircraft you are likely to see at your local airfield. Then there are the many different versions of the same aircraft to consider. The author does well do list the main differences between these. A more detailed look at any one type could take up a whole book, so we are spared the small details.
If your looking for a guide to the types of most of the aircraft you can see at your local airport then this is the book for you. It will give you a very good start on the basics of light aircraft recognition. I think the top aviation enthusiasts would consider this book to be too basic but I'm sure if they read it, even they would learn something they didn't know before.
