Good Tool for Drawing Animation,
By AnimatedAdventures.com (Seattle, WA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Light Box 10" X 12"
Although some animators use much larger and more expensive light boxes to draw with, this simple desktop version is a cheaper and more manageable alternative. We use these in all of our Manga and Anime workshops. The box provides a nice even lit area (no "hot spots") and a slight tilt to the drawing surface to make it more like a drafting table and easier to see what you are doing. The built-in pencil slot is handy for holding a few frequently-used pencils or pens. The lightweight plastic body and small size make it about as portable as you can expect a lightbox to be. It could use a carrying handle, though!

Fantastic for transfering drawing to fabric!,

This review is from: Light Box 10" X 12"
I love my Light tracer! It produces nice bright light without being blinding to look at. The surface of the box does not get hot, so you can work with it for a long time.
I use it to transfer my drawings onto fabric for quilting and embroidery, and it works beautifully. 10" by 12" size does not limit me to that size artwork. It is easy to transfer larger drawing by doing them in pieces. I just shift both the drawing and the fabric, since it is so easy to see through fabric and drawing to re-align them once you move to the next section. The light box is light and stores away neatly. The cardboard case that it came in is sturdy and has a handle. The box is easy to store it away and take it out when you need it.

Good:
Is bright enough to shine through Bristol and one or two pages of guidelines Is sturdy enough to put up with reasonable wear and tear Is light and small enough to be used as part of a portable project kit. Bad: Case has a built in tilt that forces you to use it landscape or awkwardly prop the short end up to enable portrait orientation Case is made out of a brittle plastic that raises concerns for transport - do not drop or squish it!

Great Buy,

Great product. Does as it's advertised. The lighting is pretty bright, good enough for even use of tracing photos from cameras, newspapers, magazines and more.
Only things I may want to note about it is that it wouldn't be good for 'destructive' kids. A good couple drops and it would be in pierces, not to say that is's built weak.. it just doesn't seem as if it could take too much punishment. The only down side to MY shipment is that it was missing a rubber foot. This wasn't a big deal being as I had tons lying around and could of got one for 25 cents from the local hobby shop.

For wedding envelope help? This thing's the best!,

This review is from: Light Box 10" X 12"
I volunteered to learn calligraphy and address my daughter's wedding invitation envelopes. I found out that one of the tricks for successful envelopes is to use guidelines under the envelope and a lightbox. I went to the art store to purchase the lightbox, but the ones I found at the art store cost way too much. A year earlier at my church's thrift sale, I had bought an old metal lightbox that had been used to view x-rays, but it was big and heavy, and ugly and didn't inspire me to come home and practice with it after a long brutal day at work. I found instructions on how to build light boxes which would have been a fun project, but that's time I needed to spend on this OTHER project of practicing the calligraphy! Then I remembered that you can find most anything you can want on Amazon.com, and sure enough, LIGHTBOXES! This one is great! I recommend it. There was a smaller one available, but I like the size of this one, since it's more like writing on a desk, and I "mask" the extra lighted area with a piece of cardboard so it doesn't shine in my eyes while I practice on envelope-sized scatch-paper. I've already used it to write some of the escort cards, and now I'm practicing writing the names and addresses with it until the invitations arrive. I've also been working on making a map for the guests to find the venue, by tracing a boring map and adding my own little touches and landmarks.
This box is light, and cute, and has a long enough cord so that I'm not tied to the wall plug! It has a handy little off-on switch on one side. I'm going to see about getting an inexpensive tilting laptop computer stand to put underneath it as a desk. I think with these ideas, my project will be a piece of cake! I love the little lightbox and can imagine using it just for fun after the wedding is just a fond memory. When I finish the envelopes I'm going to try my hand at making a pretty marriage certificate with maybe some pressed flowers, and put it in a frame for a gift for my daughter and new son-in-law.(If I get good enough at this, maybe I'll try using calligraphy as a side-job! I hear you can make upwards of $3 an envelope if you're doing it for somebody who isn't your next of kin! Sweet!!!) Wish me luck!

Box is excellent. This one is too small. I am going to buy another that is bigger. (it comes in different sizes) I messed up, but the seller is excellent and so is the product.
