I have never thought of using candles the way Sylvia has written about it in this book. This book is great as a guide, and it says so right in the front. It gives a great base for how you want to use candles, it has affirmations and ideas on how to use candles that I never thought of. It is a simple book which I think is great, not so much reading to do, it just got right down to the point, I loved it. I see nothing childish about this book....unless you let your children play with candles(which most people don't! I thought the illustrations and photos are beautiful. I have bought more candles and arranged them in ways she mentioned in this book and now every time I light a candle I give it meaning. No, if you want a book purely written with NO pictures or pretty writing, then you best find a textbook on candles, but this book is very spiritual and uplifting just as all her other books. I saw NOTHING childish about this book at all. BTW, I looked through this book at the store, so if you aren't sure about a book, go to the bookstore and thumb through the book first before buying it, that way you know just what you are getting and if it's the right book for you or not, instead of blindly purchasing it and then griping about it later!

I found this book very refreshing. although it is a small book, I figured as much when I saw it on the website. However, like one of the other reviewers, I went to the bookstore and looked at it and decided not only did I like it, I bought a couple more for gifts for friends who also enjoyed it. I have always lit candles purely for the prettiness, I never thought about giving each candle I light a meaning. I got a reason now to light candles and every time I do I will say a prayer and give that beautiful flame and scent a reason.....

This book was definitely not one of Sylvia Browne's longest, but that just made it straight to the point. Sylvia gave us a short synopsis of the wonders of using candles. She also gave us some short prayers to use and hints on colors and their meanings. If you want a quick read that you can pass on for someone else to enjoy, this is the book for you. If you want something in depth and lengthy, try something else.

Saying a prayer and lighting a candle after charging it with your intent is not childish nor is it ineffective tomfoolery. The book is only 64 pages long and if you want a longer, more detailed book with more info and more spells to cast, look up "candle magick". Patricia Telesco and others have fabulous books on this wonderful phenomenon.

When my husband went to the bank to get a mortgage on our first condo, I cast a candle spell for three nights before his appointment. When he called me afterwards, we'd been approved for a $100k mortgage, which was above what we thought we could get. Seeing is believing! Don't believe a thing about candle magick until you road test its principles for yourself!!!

this is a good inspirational book to give to a loved one. i plan on getting it for my sister. her cat died and i lit a candle for his soul- it was the same candle i lit when my daughter died. i think she was touched by that- if you love candles or feel particularly close to the idea that lighting a candle is a spiritual activity you may gleen a lot from this book- it is relatively tiny and portable, a great book for your purse. also a cute gift. A+.

I think this is a wonderful book, and it's very simple and to the point. She makes a point in the book that the scent and the color of a candle can have different meanings and affirmations for each person, and it's up to the individual person to make that decision. The photography in itself is as inspirational.
Do not pass this book up!

Do yourself a favor and get inspired!

This is an adorable little coffee table or end table book (I currently have it on my end table in my room) and I always look through it for cute ideas about decorating my house with candles. I've always been into the power of candles and I LOVE anything Sylvia Browne writes, so when I saw this on Amazon.com, I had to get it. It's GREAT! It has advice for what candle scents to burn, what candle sizes to burn, how to arrange them, what colors to get, different meanings or occasions that certain candles are for... I absolutely love it!

Finally a book that says it all in little words.Highly recommend this.Everybody should light a candle and snuff out the darkness.

I found this book to be very spiritual and calming. It was a nice peaceful release to read this book as well as replicate things in this tranquil and upbeat book. It has many candle setups to use towards your current mood to highten your connection to whatever you feel like being more connected to. This book will slow you down and make you look inside and around you and go hmmm I need to slow down and be calm. It was enchanting to see this book with all it's majestic candle rituals. I am very intrigued to try some of Sylvia's other books.
